we got quoted a group rate of $167 per person. didn't really seem like much of a deal over some of the internet packages. did anyone book thru the hotel? is there any advantage to booking straight thru the hotel? i am trying to decide what to tell my friends and family who are interested in setting something up....

thanks!
I was wondering the SAME thing! I checked with the hotel on their group rate and then looked at sites like funjet and apple vacations....VERY hard to beat a package deal. One thing to remember though, especially if you have a large group is that with the group rate you can get a block of rooms to gaurantee your guests can stay at the same hotel as you...if they are full during your wedding (depending on time of year) some of your guests could end up staying elsewhere. For us, we have a wide range of budgets, families with and without kids...so we opted to find a travel agent that will organize it all and let us know who is where, as long as we get to see everyone during our weeks events and the big day we think we will be satisfied.

any feedback would be appreciated!!!
Hey Sunitam!
Zorlack summed it up great, and it really is a beautiful touch to the wedding. One recommendation that I have that we did was find vases with cork lids. We did this and Cecilia said that this was so clever because they usually have to use wax to seal them for the couple. The cork looks so nice too. I researched sets online and found them for lke 40-60 per set plus extra for the sand., but I actually got mine from Michaels for $1.00 each. YES $1.00 each!! I glued a starfish on the center vase. KelZavs, I have done a lot of research and the cheapest and the best way to find good deals is:

Go to expedia
do a "Hotel + Flight" search
put the number of days of travel
select double occupancy
search
You will find the best deals for Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa! Just keep in mind that the hotel is 'all inclusive' so while you think you are booking the hotel with the flight, you are booking an all-inclusive vacation including flight.

It might be worth it to book through Dreams if you are going to do it soon. If you go to the Dreams website, they are running a special for groupe right now. For every night you have 15 or more rooms booked, you get one complimentary room. Guests also get a free upgrade and $200 worth of resort credits per room. Have a look and good luck planning:)

Thank you soooo much for this suggestion! I'm going down in five weeks and we just had some last minute adds to our guest list, and this is an awesome idea to save some money. I had no idea how we were going to accommodate the late additions!

No problem! I actually had my wedding Aug. 13th and it worked out great! We had our reception on the terrace and there is a bar right inside the lobby w. couches and place to hang out. SO while we were taking pics, our guests hung out there. She said we could swap for extra guests for dinner, but we did not have over 20 people, so we just swapped for 1 hr extra reception and extra fowers. Make sure to email her about this first to update to your contract! Glad this helped! Good luck! Your wedding will be amazing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
