jen, the exchange rate was about 12.5 when i was there (it changed slightly, daily). honestly, i'm going to sound like some stupid 1950s wife here, but tom took care of the bill so i have no idea. i do remember that the bill was in pesos, so it looked ENORMOUS, lol ... tom did a double-take! we never really had a firm total on contract going in, because our final number of guests had changed quite a bit (additional costs for cocktail hour & dinner), and we also added bouquets, bouts, and upgraded cake ... so there was no surprise when our total was a little higher.

simbasim, CONGRATS MRS! welcome back ... can't wait to see pics!

Hi everyone! I am trying to put something together for a "rehearsal dinner" for all our guests. Has anyone done this off the resort? I just figure if we have to pay for it, we might as well go somewhere off the resort since we can eat at those restaurants for free all week. One of my ideas was to go on a dinner cruise. I emailed Aquaworld and they are willing to offer group discounts. Here is the email I received in case anyone else is interested:

Hi Maria,

Thanks for getting back to me.

The price per person would depend on the menu you would like to offer your guests, if you would like to offer the Cancun Queen menu (Chicken or Fish) then the price per person is $50 usd (+ 10% tax), if you would like the Lobster or Steak menu the price per person is $70 usd (+ 10% tax), there is also a vegetarian pasta menu for $50 usd (+ 10% tax).

Regarding discounts, I have checked and we can offer for every 10 persons you reserve, one person free. With 39 people total this would mean that you would only pay for 36.

I have also forwarded this mail to my immediate manager who will contact you with any further details she sees relevant, please don't hesitate to get back to me should you need any further information whatsoever meanwhile.

If anyone has ideas, please share!!

I am pretty sure you can fit up to 8 people..Although it may be as many as 10

cassondra, you can fit 6-10 at a round table. the most i had at a table was 8 and they looked very comfortable, not squished. 10 might have been a bit much. if you have kids going, i suggest doing a separate kids' table (unless they are too young for that). it worked out awesomely at my wedding. we only had 4 of them, so claudia gave them one small square table to themselves. the adults appreciated not being seated with their kids, and mostly, it just made it much easier for me to divide our guests up into 4 round tables.

mc5363, i thought about doing one of those dinner cruises but it never happened. also, i was a little afraid that if we did that for a rehearsal, it might seem more "special" than the actual wedding dinner, kwim? we ended up not doing an organized rehearsal dinner at all, but most of us ate together that night.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
