I haven't heard of them giving a credit in the past, but it's worth it to ask. Most of the time, they just offer you trades. You could try to get the sound system or gazebo decoration for instance. I would totally fight to get what you deserve for the cost. I spent a lot of time going back and forth and almost got trades in the full amount of what it would have cost separate. It's time consuming but worth it in the end. Keep in mind that you should be getting a credit for food, open bar and an hour of live entertainment if you forego the cocktail hour. Good luck!

I am having about 45 guests. Cecilia did give me 15 more people for dinner in exchange for cocktail hour. I also got gazebo decorations for the photographer and the sound system for the ceremony instead of the Mexican Trio during cocktail hour. I then did a cost analysis of what I was being offered for trades and came up with a $1,000 difference. I used that information to negotiate and extra hour a the reception for no cost.

I booked DJ Mannia at a 30% discount too. It was actually cheaper to book him for 4 hours than it was to rent the sound system for 4 hours and since I am having my reception on the beach, it was worth it to get the extra lighting which he brings.

My FI felt the same way so we opted to send the guests to trhe bar for the free drinks while we take pictures. They gave me 10 additional people for Reception. Well, now that my guest list has fallen I need to exchange for sound system or gazebo decor.

Simbasim -we are a month out! we also had about 8 cancellations sad.gif

Since (I think) you are also doing a beach reception... what are you doing for centerpeices? (or any other beach reception nightime-ish brides).
I was contemplating going to walmart to get candles and vases... not sure what to do yet...
I purchased some of those rechargable votive candles. I am going this weekend to look for something to go with it. I am concerned with the whole wind factor?? What are your colors? Maybe we can mix it up together??

I feel so horrible that I did this to you. To b clear; when I scheduled the wedding I did not know there was another one that day. If it is any consolation, we really wanted the 12th, but it was the only day they wouldn't give us (I assumed because they already had one planned this day, I did not know they were putting our weddings so close together at all. I'm kinda late with everything I do, so no dead bodies please. Take your time and tell Claudia not to worry about me. We're doing pics first and frankly don't mind a sunset ceremony. FI's parents would probably like it better! I feel really bad about this, but have the date printed on so many things I can't change it now!! Please blame Dreams, not meoops.gifoops.gif
No sweetheart...I am just expressing how I felt at the time. It could happen to any of us. I am A OK with it now. It is their problem not ours. She assured me Dreams could handle the wedding so close together. As for the "Over My Dead Body" Comment. I was just joking. I plan on starting on time, well that is if the flowers and photographer arrive on time. Really, It could happen to any of us. smile03.gif

My thoughts exactly!

This is really good to hear. The more I read, the happier I am with the decision to ditch the DJ and use the Sound System!

My colors are Brown and gold (beach!).... but i was thinking about just getting some tall vases, buting some sand in there, a candle and a bunch of shells. (I bought white shells). I wanted to do flower centerpeices... but they are so expensive!!! and since it is nighttime i thought candles might be a good replacement. My concern is the wind of course...

I dont know what to do! i would totally be open to sharing stuff however...recharchable votives is a great idea... what do they look like?

They are frosted glass Votives and White rechargeable candles inside. I had a great idea for some centerpieces but I think it may be too much to haul all the way there. Since my guest list has dropped I may still be able to do what I want because I have a less tables. You are welcome to use the candles if I bring them. I will let you know soon. Also, I saw at the dollar store they have the cordless tea light candles, too. They are very inexpensive. I am going to do some shopping this weekend to see what I come up with. My colors are blue so no luck sharing in that department sad.gif

i'm so jealous of all you brides who are sharing centerpieces! what a great idea! :)

since claudia confirmed that we qualify for the honeymoon package free, i went ahead and booked our tension release massages and salt glow body scrub (well that one is just for me as FI thought it was a little too "gay" for him, lol), as well as our private dinner out on the pier for the 25th, which is our 4yr dating anniversary. it will be nice to do something special--shame we couldn't have been married on that date.

anyway, i just wanted to ask if anyone has gotten the salt glow body scrub and how it was? i have never done any spa-type things before so it'll be an experience. i didn't want to get the facial since i don't know how my skin will react ... the scrub just sounds exfoliating, which is nice since i'll probably already be peeling, lol. (went tanning today and scorched certain areas of my body!)

also, just FYI the included menu for the private dinner is the silver menu, which is all seafood (entree is coconut shrimp). sounded good to me and my FI, but i know a lot of you don't (or can't) eat seafood. you would have to pay something toward the dinner to get one of the other menus.

How did you schedule everything? I know you probably e-mailed the Spa right? But what about the Private dinner? Did you e-mail your WC?

We qualify for the honeymoon package too..I'm thinking that we will have the private dinner on our last night there since we have Guests there every single day that we are there. It'll be a nice Getaway :-)

As far as sharing Centerpieces...I will have pics of mine as soon as I buy some sory of flower to submerge in the water...and If there are any brides that are getting married after June 24th, you are more then Welcome to have them. I doubt I am taking them all home with me anyway. I have 5 all together & we leav dreams on June 27th.

I'm not doing any centerpieces above what is offered (I think Claudia does hurricane vases with sand, shells and candle?) Seems sufficient for me and I already have a huge pile of other crap that i don't feel like lugging with me!

I jsut read in a fashion mag the other day that salt rubs are drying, which makes sense. I have sensitive skin so wouldn't try it, just be sure to moisturize. I'm sure they do that for you! Enjoy!

I have had a salt body Scrub. I am actually getting one (included in the honmeymoon package) the day before the wedding. It basically exfoliates the body. Makes your skin soft and smooth. Anyway, Be sure to use lots of sunblock on your shoulders because you will not be very comfortable getting the body scrub with any burnt body parts. Literally feels like sand paper when you are burnt.

As for the centerpieces, if they want to hold some things for us at the resort, I would be more than happy to split costs with you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
