Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

I am getting married in November 2009 and Gaby said that it was ok for me to bring in an outside photographer. She also said that all I have to do is send her the photographer's name and he/she wouldn't have to pay for a day pass. If anyone is looking for a photographer, I have been compiling a list of packages and prices.

Hmm... This is interesting... I sent this to Claudia a couple of days ago in response to her recommendation to contact Claudia Rodriguez for photography:

Thanks for your reply. I have actually contacted Claudia Rodrigues and she is not available for my date, but she has staff that is. However, Mike at Cancun Studios is a bit more reasonably priced so I would prefer to use him. Do you allow this?

and got this reply today:

Yes of course, a day pass will apply for your photographer then $ 55 usd per person

I am assuming this means the day pass costs $55 for the photographer? (I think)

All of this questioning may have been in vain anyway. I just got an email from my TA saying that i can fly one of my sister's friends ( a photographer) down to stay in the room with my sis and another friend for 4 days for less than it will cost to hire a photog there for 4 hours. This way I save $, get an additional guest, wedding day and TTD photos and she is throwing in the AHR for free since we are flying her to Mexico! I hope it all works out.

Also, my TA is going to visit Claudia on the 19th and has agreed to get any questions answered that we would like. I know Jill is doing this too, but let me know if there is anything you would like answered in person and i will send it directly to Claudia via my TA!

Ok Dreams Cancun Brides (And Brides to be)...I need advice on 2 things...

One (I already asked this, but didn't get a response so I am trying again :-) lol)

Would it be a waste for me to get Pashminas for a June Wedding? Does anyone know if it still gets cool at night that time of year in Mexico?

and Second....For those who already got married at Dream Cancun..Can you give me your honest opionion on what would be more useful...personalized Cups...or Koozies??

A part of me wants to order the cups..But I have beer drinkers, so do they serve the beer in Bottles? In that case the Koozies would come in handy, right?

I thought about using another girls Idea and getting plain cups, and putting Mini Sharpies with them so everyone can personalize themselves. If I did that, I was also going to get the Koozies for the cups with our logo on it....But I'm not sure... :-(

Help!

I did koozies, but they don't really serve cans or bottles unless you get a corona. (in the room they do, they have them in the fridge) I wanted them to have something they could use at home. As for the travel mugs I am really glad I didn't get them. I wouldn't want to carry around something like that and when you are there all the drinks are served in huge glasses and you can get rid of them when you don't want to carry something. If you have more questions let me know.

Pashminas in June is a waste of time. I found it is windy in the evening but no where near cool enough for Pashminas. I was there for a wedding in June a few years ago and to be honest I was kinda sun burned and the last thing I wanted was a pashmina on my shoulders and arms.

As for the drawing on the cups thing, if I were to attand a wedding the last thing I would want to do is draw on cups. I cannot draw a stick man with a ruler and would not want to embarass myself..LOL! No seriously, I like the idea of koozies, mostly because I am doing it but mainly because it is practical for an AI resort. Hope this helps..Good Luck.

Well I heard from Claudia and she has confirmed I can go for the "free" wedding (yeah right!!) and use the deposit to pay for the legal stuff and then get a refund of what i don't spend at the end of my stay lol now i'm happy about that but jesus they've had my cash for a year making interest and they are keeping it for the 2 weeks we are there lmfao

So I've decided my reception is going to be at the HARD ROCK CAFE!!! yay yay yay lmao now just to bloody book it lol

I am new to the forum, but I have spent quite some time reading through all of the messages everyone has posted. I am so glad that I have found this forum, it has helped me decide that I want to get married at Dreams Cancun. I have been going back and forth with Gabriela the last few days trying to confirm a wedding date for October 1, 2009. Thanks to everyone who has posted, it really has helped me a lot to read through everyone's comments!

HartyT509.. I was totally thinking of doing the same thing.. going for a free wedding, and then going out for dinner with everyone that night instead. We are then probably just going to end up doing a reception at home afterwards anyways for everyone that couldn't come.. so it makes more sense to me then having two first dances, DJ's etc.. but I wondered how the people that were coming would feel about this? I am glad to see that someone else is on the same page as me!

I don't have any total numbers or not yet, because I haven't even confirmed my date..

If I'm honest I don't really care what the guests think lol We are paying for their meal as we would be in the hotel. If they don't like it don't come lmao I was talking to FI last night and said we will get a couple of rounds of drinks in and he said NO!! lol my family will take the piss so we get them their meal and A drink and thats it lmao

You have to go with what YOU want and not what is expected of you its not a normal wedding so you don't need to do normal things at it if you see what I mean lol smile03.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
