Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if Claudia is at work or is she still at home? If she's at home, is her assistant taking care of the wedding. My wedding is next Tuesday and I still haven't finalize or sign my contract yet. I am arriving in Cancun this Saturday so I was wondering who should I ask for and if its too late to decide on the flowers, hair/ makeup appointment, spa appointments, and decoration stuff. Do they work on Sat and Sun?

Claudia told me I could make my appointments 2 weeks in advance, I think she said I could decide on flowers when I got there and finalize the other stuff.

Why don't you call dreams and ask for claudia and if she's not there her assistant is Daniella (I think thats how its spelled) and that way it will give you peace of mind at least that you are all set.

Thanks for the reply. I did call Claudia last Weds, and left her a message. But no return call as of today. I will be flying out on this Sat, so I hope everything will run smoothly. I am sure it will tough. I have met Claudia and she's very nice and accomondating.

I believe the tables will sit 8 as well.

Claudia finally emailed back and answered all my questions. I was getting a little nervous....my date is July 27th...quickly approaching.

I mailed a color swatch (coral) to her in late February and she has not received it yet. Craziness! :-) My mind is totally made up...we are not shipping anything in advance. We are going to bring an extra small suitcase for all the things we are taking for the ceremony/reception. We will probably purchase things over there anyway...great way to justify the extra luggage. LOL

I have sent a couple of e-mails Claudia's way in the last few weeks, and have yet to hear anything back. Would you mind posting your e-mail? I know that has been helpful in the past, since many of us have the same questions.

Does anyone know if we can write our own ceremony (if it is not going to be a legal ceremony anyway)?

Susan, when I finally heard back from claudia a few weeks ago she had told me that there server had been down, so maybe she didn't get your emails. During the time she was home sick I actually got some pretty quick responses from her, but I sent her an email last week and I haven't heard back yet, so I'm sure she's back at work again.

I don't see why it would be a problem to write your own ceremony

wkbroome, as susan said, would you mind posting your email to claudia with the responses? I really think it helps all of us, especially if we're forgetting about something!

Here is the response from Claudia in regards to several wedding questions. When were at Dreams last year and spoke with Claudia, we had originally decided to get married in Cancun. This decision has been on mind since. We recently decided to get married here in Chicago on the day he proposed

(July 11th) and not tell anyone.

Dear Kimiko:

Asunto: RE: Upcoming wedding - July 27, 2007 - Kimiko & Warren - PLEASE RESPOND

Resending this message - originally sent on April 30, 2007...additional questions are below.

Hola Claudia:

Warren and I have decided that we would rather get married here in the United States and have a non-legal ceremony in Cancun. Please send the following information...

OK

Vows for non-legal ceremony

if you want you can personalize your vows.

Is anything needed to prove that we will be legally married before the ceremony is performed? (Will the marriage license be needed?)

we don`t need any documentation

We wanted to recite our own vows. Is this still possible with a non-legal ceremony?

yes

Will the ceremony look the same as a legal ceremony?

yes

Is it possible to add a sand ceremony (similar to unity candle)? I can provide the words for the ceremony. Is this OK?

yes of course

Has the color swatch been received yet? I sent it to Cancun in early March.

I havenâ€t received it

Do we need to select our flowers and table arrangements now or can this be done when we arrive in Cancun?

is better if you choose in advance

Can I email you pictures of possible bouquets to replicate?

yes

Do I need to make appointments in advance for manicures/pedicures or can this be done when I arrive in Cancun?

yes

I would like lots of candles. Do we need to bring holders for candles or is something that you can provide?

please bring your candle holders

***We will still be arriving on Monday, July 23rd, 2007.

Please respond quickly as our wedding rapidly approaches. Thanks in advance for all your hard work! We can't wait to return to beautiful Cancun.

Hey ladies:

Is anyone using parasols for their wedding? I recently came across a destination wedding slideshow and saw the use of them and it was absolutely stunning! We have fans for our guests that will be placed in the chairs before they arrive to the gazebo. We were going to use the parasols for the wedding party. What do you think?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
