I'm not sure if I understand your question. we didn't have to pay the resort more to use them instead. we chose claudias package #2, I think, it was for 3 hours of coverage, I think it was $1000 at the time, but I think the price has gone up.

Dumb Question of the Day:

Do I really have to have a reception?! I know that sounds stupid, but I'm serious. I know that Dreams does private dining for $10pp and we don't really care about a DJ or dancing or a cake. And aren't these people paying for an AI? I don't like that I am paying an extra $5K for a reception when technically, we've all already paid for our food and drink.

We'll probably end up doing the reception but i'd like to hear your opinions.

we thought about just doing the cocktail hour with appetizers and skipping the rest of it, but we looked at it like these people have all spent so much money to join us for our wedding that we wanted to host a private dinner for them. We didn't really spend that much, we did the ultimate package and just used the things that were included in the package and we had to pay for the additional couple of people over 20.

You could just do the cocktail hour and then maybe pay to have the extra to have dinner at one of the restaurants.

This was our original thoughts too. But like Jilly said we want to thank our guests for traveling for our special day and thought a nice sit down more traditional setting would be perfect. Plus I am dying to have our first dance as husband and wife. With the ultimate package it really isnt too bad price wise.

Hi there, I totally understand where you are comming from !! I'm like an idiot !! Before I knew that you have to pay extra per person over the 20 thats included in the ultimate package (because as you say its AI!) I went and invited loads of people thinking that not many would come and if they did it didn't matter because its AI. Now my guest list is creeping up, (which don't get me wrong I'm really pleased that so many friends and family are joining us) but our budget is just starting to run out of controle a little.

I want to upgarde our photography / videography package but may not be able to now because we are having to pay so much for the extra guests huh.gif What do I do?, the way I see it is when its all over you've only got your memories and photos so this is really important to me, the good thing is I do have time on my side so hopfully will be able to get more money saved although this was supposed to be more of a budget wedding as my cousin got married last year over here in England and it cost her parents £25'000 !!! we decided then that we was not going to spend that king of money for 1 day so here we are ..... x ( sorry it was long )

It would seem it would be all included as an AI resort..I agree! If you are looking to save some money, depending on the number of guests you have, you could easily just hang out and celebrate at the resort following the wedding. I think paying extra for the "wedding would make it more formal. I personally have been married before and would NEVER pay all this much money again for a single day but my fiance', whom has never been married, insists on having a wedding wedding. Go figure, a man who wants a big wedding...my luck..LOL!

I think you just have to weigh out what is more important for ESPECIALLY if you are personally paying for the wedding.

A friend of mine was married about 8 years ago in Cancun and they went with the free wedding package offered by the resort and it was great! They had a simple ceremony and we all partied for free at the resort after the wedding. It was still very memorable for everyone.

I have been debating the same thing! My mom told me maybe what I could do is just have the wedding at the designated time then plan a get together at one of the bars that night. Then you can get all your pictures out of the way and still have everyone get together and party afterward. I am still on the wall about the whole thing. I guess it just depends on how my budget goes. I guess it just depends on how important the first dance and the cake cutting and everything is to you.

We paid for the Ultimate Package, 21 more people than the ones included and I would not change that experience for anything!

We paid extra for a few things, flowers, external photographer, sounds system..

Our friends are still telling us it was the best wedding they had ever been to... the setting, the food, the dancing, the people, everything.

So I think it's what you make of it.

So I received an email from Claudia and she is allowing us to get a credit for our flowers to use to an upgraded cake - I asked her the amount of the credit but she didnt really answer that (See below) Do you think this is worth it? I guess we will get the $300.00 cake we liked after all?

In that case we can trade the flowers for the cake

What is the amount for the credit towards the cake?

Instead of bouquet, corsages, boutonnières you can choose from the upgraded cakes

Also I asked about the photo packages (see attached for 200cool.gif and the DJ playlist(s) are attached too!

Hope the DJ is worth it - I think I read a bride said the DJ didn't show up - if you read this do you mind me asking how much the DJ charges were??

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
