Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

This question is for Jilly or for any of the girls who have previously gotten married at Dreams...how did you set you appointment up for your hair/makeup? Claudia told me that I had to send the spa an email..I did that about 2 weeks ago with still no response. I just sent them another email but i'm getting a little worried because I want to make sure and get an appointment that day.

We just gave them our information at first and then whoever in our group wants to book with them that is their choice. If they want to book somewhere else they are free to do that too.

Hey Lucy / Jilly ( or anyone who has an oppinion )

I have a list of questions that I was hoping you girls could help me with...

I've been thinking about where to have the sit down meal and the music/dancing. Could you girls share what you did/are doing.

1. I think I would like to have the eavening meal on the garden area but I was worried about the weather if its raining or windy ect... Also if it is dark, do they supply some sort of lighting ??

2. Then theres the dancing area... I don't really want to have to pay for the dance floor but I will if it makes a big difference, I was wondering about moving to the terrace area after the meal for the music and dancing ? Do you think this would be a good area for this, there will be around 30 guests ?

3. Is there a bar near by ? Also do you know if they use the bows from the ceromony chairs for the reception chairs ?

4. What did you / are you doing about music ? I've read some posts that most of you are using an IPOD, do you hook this up to their sound system ? If so is there a charge ?

Sorry for the long post, Thanks alot xsmile105.gif

She didn't even offer to do this and I emailed her back letting her know that the spa has not answered me back. I would've thought she could've set this up for me. I'm still waiting for an email back from Claudia though and this is the 2nd one i've sent her as well. I thought as your wedding gets closer they answer you back quicker. It's going on two weeks and still haven't heard from Claudia and I only have a month to go before out wedding. I don't have much confidence in Claudia and I wanted to contact Daniella but Claudia told me that I couldn't and that all my planning needed to go directly through her. I thought WC were supposed to make things easier, she's making me more stressed out!!

Hi Jodey.....I have been wondeing about the same things. I am a huge planner but since I am not getting married till May 09 I am trying not to hit Claudia with too many questions right now.....I have been to Dreams Cancun and I guess it can depend on how many guests you will have. I was thinking of the terrace because it was right by the gazebo and the lobby bar.....I asked Claudia how many can be accomodated and she said:

ME: What shape tables (round/rectangle) are available for the reception and how many people can sit at each table? We were thinking of having the reception at the Club Terrace – how many people will this area accommodate? Do you have a list of the areas and how many people can be accommodated in each area so we can make a final decision?

CLAUDIA: At the club terrace we can accommodate 5 round tables of 10 people

I am not sure about the lighting - that is a good question!! HAHA But I think because of the location of the terrace there is an area for dancing (concrete). If you choose the garden, then anyone with heels on will sink? So there you may need to have the dance floor? From the sounds of things, I would think the chair bows would be for the one time use at the ceremony but it would be nice if you are paying for them to use the same chairs for the reception.

We were going to go with the Ipod and sound system but my Dad has offered to pay for the DJ as a wedding gift.

Hope this helps! Email me if you have any questions - michaelandjennifer328@comcast.net

claudia booked my appointments for me, I don't know why she can't book yours. I would mention to her that you've talked to other people that have gotten married there and they mentioned that she booked the appointments and since the spa isn't getting back to you, can she help you with this.

we had our cocktail hour in the garden area, it wasn't anymore windy there than it was on the terrace. I guess the only concern would be if people didn't want to take there shoes off then they would sink in the grass.
They do put up tiki torches, that was really the only additional lighting.

There is a bar right in the lobby of the tower, very close, yes they used the same chairs from the ceremony for the reception.

we used our ipod and brought our docking station.

I contacted Dreams (Daniella) about reserving a date and have yet to receive any information or confirmation on my date. Do i have to go through an agent and have them speak to them or will they book a date via email through me? I want to do it sometime in June 09 but I am scared it will book up!!

Any ideas or suggestions on what you gals did to reserve your date?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
