Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

msmandee...

my parents are very VERY old school and they refuse to go to a wedding that isnt done by the catholic church, but times are changing and this is what i want. However, ever "little girl" dreams of the day that her father will walk her down the isle and i want that more than anything! So in order to satisfy both parties involved we are having a destination wedding [with thirty or so of our close friends] after our "offical wedding" in my hometown, in my parent's house for family and friends.

we figured this is the only way to get the best out of both worlds... home wedding that you have dreamed of as a girl. with your father walking you down the ailse. to the destination wedding that is your dream now.

what i have come to relieze is that this wedding is about david and i. and before anything else i must put us. Im sooooooo excited to see what comes of our commitment to each other... i hope this helps..

P.S. when i was first planning my wedding my mother said that a destination wedding was a bad idea because no one would show up (which would in turn make me angry) i just came to find out that my close family memeber [like cousins, aunts & uncles] will be going to cancun in late ju8ly (just when my wedding is scheduled) goooo figure... my advice... do what you want and enjoy every min of it.... i will take lots of pics, i promise

... and about choosing Cancun over Cabo... we are from Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love! It would be more expensive for our guests to get to Cabo (which is on the west coast of Mexico) in comparison to Cancun. and truth be told, we feel in love with "Dreams" not Cabo, Cancun, or Punta Cana, but "DREAMS" just the idea of unlimited luxury is fascinating to us (especially since we are in the service industry) ... i hope that our site visit fortifies the idea that we made the right decision

I havent even mentioned this idea to my mother.. She is like yours (tlomlad) she wants me to get married in the church and have all the traditions but at the end of the day she is not paying we are so i feel she cant say anything about it. I am also considering doing the church and maybe dinner afterwards and then have the party in cancun. I know i will have alot of friends going its just family that will be shady. But at the end whoever wants to be there for me will be there no matter what. Cabo is nice but too expensive and way to much money i rather cancun. I was just there in october and stayed accross the street (go figure) i wasnt engaged yet so i have an idea of the hotel. When i was little (and my father was alive) we went on a family vacation to the same resort except it was called Camino Real at the time so i feel this will bring some nice memories along with new wonderful memories..

So ladies i guess we need to get this started i cant wait to hear the details of the most recent bride.

Does anyone have suggestions on what travel agent i should go toohuh.gif

How were the prices they gave you? Do they work directly with the hotel to get everyone situated in the same area since its a wedding. I am a confused puppy when it comes to all this sorry sad.gif lol

I will look into it.. How did you do your invites?? And how long did you wait to send them out obviosly to give people enough time to book and save $$ for the wedding!!

The prices I got from that TA were about $200-$300 cheaper then anywhere else. It depends on time of year, length of stay and which category room as far as price but they will give you a free qoute. I didnt worry about getting our guests rooms together because some want to stay in the Pyramids, others in the tower. But I know my sis and my mom asked to have adjoining rooms and although it can not be guranteed they noted it on their reservation.

For DW invites, I have seen that ettiquette is at least 10 weeks. But anything goes really. Have you or are you going to do STDs? Those are a big help in giving guests the heads up. We sent out letter and magnets and now its fun to go to our friends houses and we see our magnets up on the fridges, a constant reminder to save and prepare to come to our wedding.

In our letter we attached the TA's email address and website. On the magnet we put out Wedding website that we did throught the knot and then on that website also had the TA's info. As far as deals I know some gals have mentioned being told by DC needing 80% of their guests to stay there as a requirement. I personally have not been told that. There are day passes for those not staying on the property. I do believe there is a discount for a certain number of rooms booked but am unsure of that. I can get in touch with my TA or maybe one of the other ladies knows too!! smile159.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
