The tower bar is right off of the tower terrace and also the tower lobby. So you could totally continue inside the lobby area and keep getting drinks from the lobby bar, I think. The only thing I'm not sure about is how late that bar stays open. And they totally didn't kick us out of there, I think I got back to my room at midnight and that was coming straight from our reception. We didn't pay for any extra time and claudia was no where to be found once cocktail hour started, so the waiters were in control and we had fun with them.

Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't pay for extra time because its not like you have to leave the area once the weddings done, you're staying at the hotel, so you're allowed to be there and hang out in the lobby, etc...

I knowwwwwwwww! Freakin' over here!!!

I thought I remembered you saying that, but I wanted reassurance I guess :)

As it stands right now, we will eat inside where SusanK had hers and have it open to the terrace, we think...

I was picturing the bar right there, but that is for us during the wedding I would think. I wasn't sure if that was the only one and if tower residents would use it.
I think we will try to stay as long as we can. We are using their sound system, so that may go.

Hello Brides.

Brace yourself for this:

I have had my wedding planned for the past 9 months for the date of April 7, 2008 at the Iberostar Tucan and 2 weeks ago for various serious reason chose to cancel at the resort and change everything....PURE PANIC!!!

I have been on my computer non-stop for the past week reading and re-reading these forums. THANK GOD I stumbled upon this website. I have been relatively silent and still very much in the dark on how to effectively use this forum. I have seen (or read) weddings planned and brides return from their honeymoons to their new married lives. I feel like I have a secret life and new friends that don't even know I am here smile03.gif And I have certainly learned all sorts of new abbreviations...lol. My FI thinks I am addicted.

I have been back and forth between Dreams and the Paradisus RM. It sounds like Dreams is nearly unbeatable for a wedding. My only hesitation is that I was trying to avoid the hustle and Americanized bustle of Cancun. But, you gals have me pretty much talked into Dreams. Lucky for me April 6, 2008 is available and it looks like this will be my new date. Maybe this has all been a blessing in disguise...very disguised. Now I just hope I can do all the planning and details in 2 months. It sounds almost impossible, but please wish me luck. I have learned an enormous amount and so appreciate you all sharing your stories and photos. I hope to return the favor.

Sorry for the long post, but I needed to get this introduction out of the way...

Shout out to PDXlove. I am a PDX gal too.

Not enough points to open much of the recent pricing and flower info that has been posted- Nor can I send PM

Would TiffJT mind sending info to jeannehofbauer at hotmail dot com?

Just a couple of questions for past brides and site visitors:

Is the beach nice at Dreams? It looks nice, but TA said it is rocky.

Happy with the rooms?

Is the staff friendly- I know Claudia and Daniella are, but what about the rest of the employees?

Recent poster who is having fireworks- that is so great. How are you doing this?

Thanks agian to all and I sincerely hope that I can finalize my date and you will all be seeing a lot more of me. :)

There is just the one bar in the tower, but its not the kind of bar that you can sit at, so it was never very busy, I think it's mostly for the weddings, but it's always open, so anyone can get a drink there at anytime. I wouldn't worry about having a lot of people there though, there were a few people hanging out inside, where you're having your wedding, but because you'll be there, there won't be anywhere for people to hang inside. I think most people are out at the bars where you can actually sit and hang out anyway.

I've answered your questions below in red

I thought the beach was nice, I didn't notice it being too rocky, maybe right when you walked in the water, but that was it. I only went in the water on the main beach, I didn't try it out on the tower side.

Happy with the rooms?

The rooms were very nice, we had a jr. jacuzzi suite and absolutely loved it! We had an issue with 1 of the air conditioning units in our room not working and they came up right away and it was fixed in 5 minutes

the staff is wonderful, very friendly, they go out of there way for everyone

I think she said they're not doing them anymore because of safety reasons.

our reception was from 6-9, but it didnt end until 9:30. after that we all went to the lobby bar and took it over. not the tower lobby, the other lobby. the tower lobby is attached to wear the terrace is.

it was fun, and nobody in our party wanted to go anywhere else. (we also had around 100 people). hope that helps!

I know my friends will want to continue to party and feel kinda strange saying we will continue at one of the hotel bars and then go to Azucar (since they are open late).

Claudia has told me in the past it is $10 (+ tax and tip) per person per hour to continue partying there.

Did anyone just stay put in the Tower lobby bar area? I am asuming that is close to the Tower terrace? I don't want to make the ackward transition outta there. The $1000 extra also hurts a bit for 2 more hours there.

Any advice?

Welcome Jhof! Awesome to see another Portlander! You will be just fine and your wedding will be glorious. (then you will give us all the insider tips!). Let me know if you need anything!

Question for Jilly or anyone who knows this: Is there seating in the terrace already or do they set up seating only for weddings? In other words, have you been there when there wasn't a wedding and what seating, if any, was there?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
