Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

So excited because everything is coming together for us !!

We are officially getting married on Nov.28th 2012 at Dreams Cancun. We have 25 flights booked so far and are working on our deposits on the rooms, this is turning out to be much bigger then we expected !

To top it off, we won a trip to dreams Tulum through our travel agency, waiting to hear the details on that, but cannot believe it !!

Even though everyone has jumped on the seat sale we found, we are still sending out passport invites and they are almost finished, they look amazing and I will post when they are finished.

Can't even begin to describe my excitement right now , yay !

I don't think I can help with this one.  We went with the Dreams Trilogy which had steak (I believe it was a piece of filet mignon) along with fish and shrimp.  I thought the trilogy was a nice option because you aren't able to give people the traditional steak, chicken, or fish options for a reception meal.  But, as the filet is part of other meals they offer (duo and trilogy), I would think it shouldn't be a problem to make it easier on the cooks and have just steak.

Jana,

I really like Juan's work as well!  Do you know if we will get a credit from Dreams for not using the photographer they have listed in their package?

I think that Juan Navarro is beyond amazong and his prices are very reasonable!! I would go with that. My fiance and I just finished working up all of our songs for the cocktail hour, wedding video, reception, first dances, and ceremony, Wow what a long afternoon. We also finished our ceremony script..Yeah more to check off my list.

HI All,

I am totally new to this site but have already found it so helpful!!

I am getting married at the Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa on April 20, 2012--65 days to go!!!

Everyone here mentions Claudia but I have not been in contact with her at all. I am dealing with Cecilia- had anyone dealt with her in the past or now? It does take her over 3 weeks to respond to any of my emails which is ok but I just want to make sure that when I get to Dreams my wedding will be as perfect as I hope for!

Any suggestions at all for my wedding would be greatly appreciated!!

Lindsay,

That was my next question!

I wonder if we can trade it with somethig else, like the flower decors, sound system and so on.

Please let us know!

I didn't use the photographer in the package (I brought mine with me from home as a guest) and Claudia gave me gazebo decor as my trade.  I did have this in an email from her before I got to Cancun (though I didn't negotiate for it, that was her reply to my travel agent).  "Gazebo decor" turned out to be 4 of the floral corsages (see below for a picture of 1) with the tall wooden sticks in the front 2.  If you look through my wedding picture album (in my signature) there is a picture of the gazebo before the ceremony and you can see what was there (not able to link it right now for some reason).  What worked out perfectly was that I had 4 reception tables (other than the sweetheart table) and the Dreams staff moved the corsages from the gazebo to be the centerpieces for the tables.  So it not only saved me $250-$500 on gazebo decor, but it also saved me ~$300 in centerpeices that I was planning on buying.

Note that the flowers I had selected for my bouquet were a mix of bright-colored roses.  For the floral corsages and the "natural floral centerpiece"s for the ceremony table and sweetheart table, they will mix in lilies and filler flowers along with your chosen flowers to make the pieces look more full.

Claudia and Cecilia work together and share an office.  I believe Claudia is mroe senior as she has been there longer, but Cecilia had been there for well over a year (based on posts from this forum while I was waiting for my wedding) - so either one of them will do a great job for you.

If you tell us a bit about what you have planned - we can probably offer some suggestions or at least give you some info about past experiences.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
