Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

I'm leaving in less then a week and must say that I hope my wedding is just crazy good because I'm highly disappointed with the communication with this resort.  I will have 3 questions and only 1 question will be answered in the email.  My travel agent even commented on how bad it's been lately. I've had to wait weeks even days, and still some questions never answered. Simple questions too! I wanted to switch resorts but I didn't want to last minute due to the guests, and all the planning I put into this. I never emailed her alot until the end just a few times here and there. Just hoping I return and it was all worth it in the end.

Same here - I emailed a very few times, knowing that there was likely a limited number of responses I would get.

I tried to limit my communications to things I thought would need to be handled ahead of time - like changing my ceremony time, requesting a DJ, saying I don't need the photog (things that required coordination with other people), and scheduling a rehearsal & dinner.  I didn't bother Claudia with cake or flower selections (knowing that could be handled at the meeting) or letting her know what items I would be bringing.

All of the brides have come back and said the wedding coordinators are real pros and make your wedding day wonderful - so I am just going to assume that is true and not worry.  I will 100% be writing a review when I get back.  I even got a free little notebook from vistaprint so I can take lots of notes for you ladies.

Hi ladies,

I just wanted to comment on the communication thing. I got married there this year and I can say yes the communication was slow, but I also didn't get panicked by it as I knew from other brides it would happen. Trust me when you go to the resort you will see how busy they are, We got married in May and in that month alone there is over 50 brides sometimes 4 in a day and only three coordinators!

I give those coordinators tremendous respect, Claudia went above and beyond and made our wedding so so special. Everything was done perfectly. She came to my room to pick up all the decorations and everything at 1pm that day exactly when she said she would and decorated better than I could have asked for.

One tip to those brides leaving soon, make sure you have a table arrangement picture of how you want it to look, also if you want a specific layout of tables. I had it all drawn up and pictures taken of mock table settings to give to her.

To the girl who was asking if Dreams is the place, I don't have anything to compare it to but I could not have asked for a more perfect setting and wedding! My family is still talking about it. We used Teresa from Vacations for Less through Tammy the BDW forum host. She was a perfect travel agent and kept in constant contact. Also when i wasn't getting an answer from Claudia she would get it for me very quickly.

Don't give up on Dreams you will be happy you didn't

This is odd. I already have the terrace in my contract and none of my guests are staying there!!! They better not change this on me.

I better look in my contract tonight to make sure that it is there I thought it was but now I am second guessing myself! :(

Maybe this is a new thing? My old wedding date had zero guests booked in the tower, and we had the terrace from day one. It could be a new policy for 2012 weddings? I know that's not helpful, sorry! I hope you girls get the location that you want!

If it helps, I've seen some pictures from receptions at the spa terrace and they looked gorgeous, maybe as a plan B if they don't give you the terrace?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
