Thats interesting that you were able to trade services, it must be something they allow once you're there and finalizing all the arrangements?? I have read several posts where alot of brides have swapped services or exchanged them for something else. I was trying to be proactive and I emailed Claudia and asked if I could exchange a few things and put them towards the dinner - she told me none of them were possible and that the wedding packages can't be changed.... I hope she will reconsider when I meet her in person! Like the champagne toast for example; I have 50 guests coming and the package only allows for 20- it doesnt make sense to buy to purchase more bottles when im having a cocktail hour right after- oh well...

As for the dance floor, I wasn't going to have one as i couldn't justify the price, but then when we got there and my FI saw the dance floor for other weddings he wanted it and he is so happy we got it. We did not have a cocktail hour we traded it in for 10 extra people at dinner, that covered the cost of the dance floor.

Hi Channing,

I also read about a lot of brides who have traded out services for other things.  I am hoping for the same when I arrive.  I am guessing that once we have a credit card in hand and we can show how many room nights our guests are giving thre resort (we are at 149 total nights), anything will become negotiable. :)  So I am planning on saving for everything, but hoping that we won't have to spend it all!

I also agree with the champagne toast. Our cocktail hour is immediatly following the ceremony, seems silly to buy more bottles.  I think I am just going to ask to have those bottles (however many for 20) to either just be used while we are all getting ready or delivered to peoples rooms that night.  Something...

You would have to think that even if they won't let you trade for something else, they would at least be willing to serve it to you when you want it!

I was thinking that if I keep the champagne (and end up buying an extra bottle for the extra people) that I would rather have it during the reception for toasts instead of right after the ceremony.  I can see right after the ceremony being appropriate if there were not going to be a reception (for example if it were just the bride and groom or a vow renewal ceremony).

The toast thing is a bit of a scam I would say, they only use the champagne that is from the bar that you get with the all inclusive. We skipped the toast had it poured at our rehersal dinner for everyone, then at the reception we did all our toasts and with a tip from my dad for the waiters they poured everyone a glass of champagne for toasts.

We gave claudia a big tip and seem to get quite a few extras, before i got there i was able to trade my cocktail hour for 10 extra people, and then the mariachi band we traded for our sound system for the reception that turned into a dj with a tip to claudia. We paid for a wood dance floor and she added the lighted one instead, and put up the white flags on the beach

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
