Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

I did a rehersal dinner. We went back and forth about it but we had 35 guests and after seeing how difficult it was to get a table of just 10 of us one night for dinner, we realized we did the right thing. We had it at oceana, they had a long table for 35 set up at 6pm, we chose a three course meal and then everyone could choose their desert. 5 waiters were assigned to us. It was great it went so smooth and no headaches and when we asked for champagne for a toast they were more than happy to do it for us. It was 15 dollars per person plus tax, but more than worth it!

Question for you ladies:  did any of you have flower girls?  I think I remember a bride saying that the resort either won't allow or doesn't recommend dropping flower petals because of the wind.  What other options are there?

My fiance has 2 nieces (that will be ages 2 and 3 when we get married) that we need to incorporate into the wedding.  I had planned on having one be the ring bearer (there are no boys in the family) and the other the flower girl.  And I had planned on letting the two of them (or their parents) choose who has which job.  We have bought a stuffed animal that looks a bit like our dog that we will use for the rings (on a collar around the dog's neck), but if we don't do the traditional basket with flower petals for the flower girl then I am at a loss.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I am having my 2 1/2 yr. old daughter be our flower girl and our 1 yr. old son be our ring bearer. From what I've read on the wedding pkg. extras you can purchase bags of rose petals for $20 each, so I am assuming that they are okay with it,as long as they are real... being that they are biodegradable. I am turning a small sandcastle type bucket into what my daughter will be carrying down the aisle.(we are having our ceremony on the beach) Hope this helps!!!!

i purchased the bags of petals from the wedding department and the wedding coordinator actually threw them down(pouring water on them too)..so that they would stay better..right before we walked and the guests were helping throw some in too.  Because some of them do get blown away by the wind. But nonetheless, it was still very pretty :)

i dont think the resort will have any problem as long as they are real flowers. :)

Hey girls,

I just got all my pictures from Juan back. OMG he is such an incredible photographer. I don't know what Dreams was thinking when they took the contract away for him to be the photographer. We just rec'd our book that he made. I can not put into words how amazing it is. I am including my facebook link to all our pictures. I uploaded them so they quality is "grainy" it takes to long to upload that kind of quality of picture. The first pictures are my uncles of us getting ready, Juan's start at the ceremony site. Enjoy everyone!

Your pictures are wonderful!!!!  The ones of just you and your husband on the rocks and by the boat are just perfect.  I hope you have plenty of space at home to print them out and display them....

Thanks ladies - that makes me feel better.  I understand the petals will likely blow away, but that may make for an even better picture :-)  Now I just have to figure out what sort of "basket" I want for the flowers that will survive the flight.  What do you think about an aluminum pail (small one since the flower girl will be either 2 or 3 years old) with ribbon bows in our wedding colors where the handle meets the pail?  And if possible trying to tie on a couple of small starfish....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
