Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

I would recommend Teresa the TA vacations for less. If you call Tammy from wright travel the moderator from this website she will hook you up with Teresa who has been more than amazing for us. If Claudia is not answering emails she is right on it and gets an answer within hours. She has been a lifesaver!!

Hi,

We signed our contract in February and our wedding is October 29Th.  I would recommend doing it sooner than later.  Especially if you are doing the legal ceremony.  You have to make sure the date, time and judge are all available.  Also, once you sign the contract/pay deposit you secure the area you choose for your reception.  We went through three dates before we found October 29Th.  I was flexible on the weekend, but I wanted the 4:00 time and a Saturday, and the Terrace for my reception.

 Good luck.

I'm still waiting to sign the contract, there has been lots of stress to say the least! We put a down payment on the trip itself and I'm just worried that everything is taking so long I hope it all works out.  My wedding date is Nov. 10, 2011.  I just looked up my trip on Expedia and saw that it was like $1,000 cheaper than booking through my agent who works for Apple Vacations.  I know for sure this is where I want my wedding I just wish it wold go a little smoother for the process. I am doing the legal ceremony so if anyone has any information or tips about this process please sent them my way.  I know that the legal process is a little more money but if I'm going to go all the way to Mexico I want the real thing.  I just want one date to remember! I have emailed the WC at Dreams so I know I have the date and I'm supposed to sign the papers this week.  Hopefully my travel agent will be more helpful in the months to come because I know she is booking lots of weddings for Dreams Resorts, maybe to many since I've been waiting forever to sign this contract!

We were married there last May.  I had Cecilia for my WC and she was great.  Once you sign the contract and tell them your locations everything else will fall into place.  But I would definitely tell them where you want your reception a.s.a.p.  There happen to be several weddings going on the day of ours and some places were already reserved.  We were scheduled to have our reception on the beach but it was SUPER windy and we had to move it inside.  We had ours inside right behind the terrace.  I was really disappointed when I found out we had to move it inside, however we didn't want sand blowing in people's food.  Lol.  And actually it turned out very nice with the beautiful table setups and lighting, etc.  We had the mariachi band first and then the DJ and it all worked out well.

We opted for the microphone and speakers for our ceremony at the gazebo.  I think it was absolutely necessary the day of our wedding.  The wind was blowing so hard, nobody would have heard a word if we didn't have that.  They did tell us that it is usually not that windy, but if you want your guests to hear you saying your vows and to hear the music playing then I think you might want these.

Don't stress after you sign the contract.  They will not respond to your emails as fast as you want them to, I guess it is just a different pace there.  But bring all the photos you like of cakes, flowers, hair styles, makeup, etc.  We met with Cecilia for less than an hour and everything was confirmed upon our arrival.  It should be a great and relaxing experience!

If anyone has any other questions I might be able to help with just let me know. :)

Hi ladies I haven't signed on in a while. I have been a bit busy with all the last minute planning. A lot of changes have taken place since the last time I was on. New photographer..dj..one less bridesmaid and even a new wc :(. But I am trying to keep positive that everything will work out in the end. I am a couple weeks away and no use in driving myself crazy. Luckily I am flying my own photographer for my wedding but my ttd the dress session was booked with Juan. I have tried to contact him and nothing yet..:(( Glad to see everyone is doing well.

Ditto!  I just got an email from Cecila this week that she is going on Maternity leave.  I am know working with Guillermo!  I havent reached out to him/her very much at this point.  I hope the transition is smooth and things dont fall in the cracks.  I'm hoping its a good change, but to early to tell at this point.  I have not seen this name on this site before, so I'm guessing it is a new person.  Just like you though, trying not to stress and just fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly!  I feel like I should be further along than I am!

On another notes, has any had live music at the reception?  We are trying to find more information to see if this is a good option or if we should just go with the DJ.

I spoke to Guillermo and he is great and very efficient. I was having a hard time getting in touch with Juan and I got a phone call directly from Juan about 15 minutes after speaking to Guillermo. I am sure everything will be fine. Three weeks left..getting very excited!!woot.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
