Andim, you two look great! As all have stated, I can't wait for the review. P.S. I just went on to the MOTM thread, and I saw my name there, and I wanted to thank whoever nominated me! I really feel that you all have helped me so much more than I can dream to help you. I wish we could all meet up one day!

Happy 4th!

Sooo here I go... I recently got back from Dreams Cancun where my wedding was supposed to be! As soon as I arrived to Dreams Resort I was greeted with much kindness. I expected to hear from Claudia a day after I arrived which I did not. So I contacted her myself. Our appointment was made for the next day at 10 am. My husband and I arrived on time and waited 45 min. for Claudia to show up. Once she did we went into the business center and got our wedding details squared away. Our rehearsal was Sat 6/26 @ 3pm. We all showed up but the rain started to pour (Hurricane Alex) .. So she stated the wedding would have to be moved inside the next day which was no problem.. She gave me 3 options to where I could have my ceremony. First one was in the lobby where they would make it private just for me and my 65 guests. The second one was the Himitsu restaurant where they would clear out for our wedding party as well. Lastly, was the nightclub which was an absolute NO! So we decided on the lobby which we thought would look pretty because of all the different colors.. So we did our run through with Claudia no where to be found. She came and stated we can no longer have it in the lobby. So then we chose Himitsu she then stated no for that as well. So I asked her what my other options were. She told me the only option they have is the nightclub!! I was horrified!!! I asked her to speak to a manager. Let me tell you apparently Dreams Resort managers will not come out and talk to guests!!!! So I told her I would like my entire invoice refunded back which they agreed to. I would not receive that until Monday because of there accounting department. So I told her thats not a problem I will need something in writing. She finally provided me with the written form. So right after that I went searching for a hotel who would accommodate my needs. Krystal hotel ended up accepting my offer which was amazing. I saved $4000 by having it there and it turned out fantastic!!! ALMA is amazing and actually has her own office can you believe that the wedding coordinator has her own office hahahha!!! Everything was included from DJ MANANA to a 5 course meal!!! Our friends and family were so pleased...

P.S. For those who were discussing how dreams over booked there rooms due to expedia is wrong.. I had 10 guests moved to hyatt and they booked through my travel agency 6 months in advance!!!! They absolutely had the worst customer service!!!

I am really sorry to hear that minasian34. After all the planning we do thats the last thing you want to happen.

I'm wondering if anyone else booked at Dreams Cancun is feeling this way. I'm trying to work out my proposal with Cecilia the WC and its like shes not willing to work with me. I don't want a religious ceremony and she said whatever we get is what we get for a minister. There are other things I'd rather trade for something and she says no. Everyone says shes so sweet but shes hard to deal with over email. My fiance really wanted a destination wedding and I thought I did too until I started planning. Its hard for me to take all the uncertainty and hoping my day turns out the way I'd hoped. Does anyone else feel this way?

I am so sorry you had to go through that, but it seems that everything happens for a reason b/c it sounds like you still had an amazing time.

My guests also ran into an overbooking problem. They booked months in advance and everyone was asked if they could possibly move to Hyatt. I think they were even leaving notes under doors saying that if they'd move they would get 3 free nights some other time. I don't know how that happened. My brother was on the phone with his TA for most of my wedding week because there was some huge mixup. Thank god it worked out okay and we got day passes for those staying at other hotels. It all worked out okay in the end, but Dreams should definitely fix that problem- it's really nerve wrecking.

On a brighter note, congrats!!!!!!!! Enjoy married life!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
