Thanks for the replies ladies. I'm not worried about the wind, was just curious if anybody noticed it was different earlier in the day. We're still mulling over the ceremony time, but we weren't too worried about it being too hot for a noon ceremony since our wedding is in January and the avg daily temp at that time of year is 78-82. We vacationed there in April/May 2008 and at that time of year it was 87 or 88 everyday...pretty toasty!

At the moment, we are thinking day wedding, then either hang out at the bars at night or hit a club as the party part of the reception since we don't know that we'll have that many people interested in dancing to justify paying for a dj & dancefloor, but guess it will depend on how many guests confirm that they are coming...that could sway our decision :)

Hi Everyone,

I want to say congrats on your upcoming marriages at Dreams Cancun. I was recently married there (2 weeks ago to be exact - April 20, 2010). Everything was perfect and Claudia was amazing to work with and made our day even more special than we had ever expected.

I would recommend the speakers for the ceremony as it adds to the overall feel and romance of getting everything started. There is a technician that is available, you just have to give him the songs you would like played and let him know when to play them during the ceremony.

We took our own photographer and videographer from home and didn't use the one offered in the package so unfortunately I can't comment on that.

We originally wanted our reception on the Caribe Beach, but it was a bit windy and chilly in the evenings so we moved it to the Club Terrace and it was great. Everyone was really impressed with the set up. The terrace stays open so guests can still go outside, the terrace is right over the beach and you get a great view of the Gazebo.

The minister was Gino and he was great, spoke perfect English and brought laughter and tears to our eyes during the ceremony. Would highly recommend him. The civil ceremony is about 30 minutes. Ours was a bit longer because we said our own vows and also had a reading from the Bible.

For the hair and makeup, I would highly recommend that you go to the spa knowing exactly what you would like done and give them as much direction as possible. Also take your own makeup. They used my make up and wanted to use some of their own to give me that extra special look but I was very disappointed, I looked really made up when I had wanted a very natural look. I'm hoping our photographer can work his magic so the photos don't look like I have too much on. Give yourself a lot of time for the hair and make up. I had mine scheduled at 9 am, and was supposed to be finished by 11 am at the latest but didn't get out until noon-ish and was in a rush to get dressed for the photos before the ceremony.

Otherwise, it was a perfect day and I wouldn't change a thing (except the make up). Claudia was amazing and I really can't thank her enough.

This is a trash the dress recently blogged about by Dreams' own blogger and it was Dreams Cancun. Juan was their photographer. Very nice! However, I do notice now that he used some of the same poses for everyone (drawing heart in the sand). I wouldn't mind, because I'm only going to have my pics, but in case any of you do.

Peterpanpixiedust..you beat me to it! I was just about to post about the TTD pics posted on the Dreams Cancun Facebook, so if any of you out there are not a fan yet of Facebook, do so...Dreams said that in the coming weeks they will be posting more wedding pics. Hopefully pics with the new gazebo so we can all get a better idea how it looks. I was also told by my WC (Cecilia) that they will be remodeling the terrace area in June, so I'm looking forward to pics of this later this summer since I'm planning my reception there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
