Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

AverageJane,

I get married the day after you and my heart dropped when I read your post about the gazebo. Apparently the terrace is under renovation too. I started a whole comment thread on facebook. Apparently the "temporary gazebo" is about 30 feet from the old one and the roof from the terrace has been removed.

I'm planning to get a little bridezilla on them when we get there on Thursday. What were the options they gave you? Was your reception supposed to be on the terrace.

If I don't like the temp gazebo, I'm making sure they pay for a beautiful canopy on the beach and for a dance floor in the garden area, or close one of their restuarants so we can have our reception there.

I can't believe this is happening!!

Bright side, the weather forecast looks beautiful for Saturday and I'm sure whatever location they give you will be amazing!

See you there!

I was the one who commented on your post on FB telling about the terrace. I def could be wrong, but I found out through here. Its a few pages back that one of the brides said her WC told her they were taking out the palapas. I hope that Stephen guy will post pics on FB of the terrace & the gazebo.

I have an update. As I mentioned before my wedding is planned for the gazebo May 2nd. I did not feel good about just waiting and hoping to see if tit would actually be complete by April 30th like they said. So I emailed the hotel, got the hotel manager's name and sent him an email. This is what he told me minutes ago:

About your wedding on May 02 we will be 100% ready for this important event.

Status on the current Gazebo: today we are adding floor, and the roof panels will be done by tomorrow. This is almost 80% of the hard work.

During the following weeks construction workers will be fixing details around the area, adding paint, electric power and other general small details. Only to give you a general idea tomorrow we will send you some architectural draw where you can picture your wedding at the new Gazebo.

So hopefully if he sends a pic I can figure out how to post it.

Unfortunately it is not an answer for the ladies who's weddings are before mine. IMy heart goes out to them. I agree with the other poster and I would insist upon a setup on the beach and a VERY NICE one covered in beautiful tropical flowers. I would NOT settle for a garden gazebo wedding. This is not why we choose this resort or signed a "contract" with them.

As everyone has stated, we should remember what the day is about...the actual wedding and sharing it with our family and friends. But still we had our hearts set on that gorgeous view and location and it is not right to find out weeks before your wedding that everything has changed.

If anyone has questions or wants my email address just let me know. :)

Amy

Hey Mrs.Lewis, that was such a good idea about emailing the hotel. If you can post the picture when he sends it that would be great or if you can foward me the email at [email protected].. I have been in panick mode as well. My wedding is May 8th.

Brides that are going before the gazebo is done--- I hope you get compensated b/c this is a big deal b/c that is the main erason many of are doning our wedding over there... Good Luck to all of you...

Thanks for posting that! Although not the same as before nor is it ideal, it would still make for a beautiful ceremony. You're right tho, you would have to avoid the lovely blue tarps in the pictures.

holy crap i still cant belive theres all this crazyness going on!!! the little gazebo looks "ok" but i would still definately get some type of compensation for all this (april/may brides)!

i knew from my site visit last sep that there were gonna be renovations going on but i never thought they would still book weddings for locations that aren't really there!

i really hope they finish everything they plan on doing before sept...god forbid they decide to re-do all of the rooms or the pool or lagoon b/c obviously they won't let anyone know before hand!!

omg Carolina...I didn't even think of that!!! I mean, I've said a million times I wish the rooms and pool were renovated....or take out the lagoon completely and make a huge beautiful pool...or any combination, but now that you mention it...that WOULD mean more tarps and unusable areas for brides and brides to be! How horrible! This sucks, oh the suspense is killing me. I'm going to be on edge until the wedding happens! Hopefully the 2011 brides will be set though, with a new and improved hotel :)

I think the temp gazebo could be really pretty with drapery or those floating orchids, it's really a pretty gazebo, much better than I had imagined.

exactly chipotle!! i know we all want the rooms and pool to be renovated, but at what cost?? no matter what someone would be affected!!

i really do think that you 2011 brides should be completely out of the woods, or else the rest of us 2010 brides have no hope, lol!!

anyway, the little gazebo is actually nicer than the old one, the sucky part is that they didn't tell anyone before hand!

good luck to all of us, omg!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
