Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

Well, I have confirmation from Cecilia. My wedding is in exactly 1 week and the gazebo will not be finished. She did not tell me ANYTHING about any of this. I emailed her 2 weeks ago to get the easurements for the pilliars and she emailed them to me saying not a word about the construction project. I have emailed her 5 times since I heard about this and i FINALLY got an email back. I am crushed. How could they do this?! I booked that gazebo a YEAR AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is insane. You can bet your ass they are going to compensate us for this (not that that could possibly make up for this) but considering that after I got measurements I had drapes made specifically based on those measurements, and considering we ALMOST went with the Palace who gave us a better quote but chose Dreams BECAUSE of the gazebo. I'm sorry I know I'm rambling but I am just in shock. She wasn't even going to tell me. That's not right.

I am so sorry about this! she definately should have told you! I can't imagine how you must feel. Please don't let this ruin the most special time of your life! I saw on FB that they have a gazebo set up in the garden...I know it's NOT THE SAME at all, but try to hang in there. and definately get some compensation for this!!! good luck babe let us know about your amazing day!

That's aweful, I'm so sorry! I wonder if they could set up something for you close to where the old gazebo was. There is a long cliff area there and they could set up maybe an arch so it would be at least the same view?

I have stuff made for the gazebo as well..I guess I'm going to just have to bring it and hope that it fits the new one sad.gif

Thanks eveyone for the support. I am feeling better now. Luckily I have a wonderful man who has a way of getting me to just breathe and go with the flow. We have decided that we'll just get married in whatever other spot works and that it really shouldn't matter where that is, gazebo or no gazebo.

I think I was just in shock. I have to thank you ladies though because I am not sure I would have been so easily calmed if I hadn't found out about this before getting down there! You girls are wonderful!!!

I'm glad you are feeling better...BUT i do think all of the brides who have to go through this should be reimbursed in some way from the resort. It is a huge deal and I think I would feel the exact same way as you've felt sad.gif

You should definitley talk with your WC to see what they can do in return for all of the disappointment & anxiety....upgraded room, whatever they can do to make you feel better. After all, you have spent all this money & have guests that are willing to spend their money & this is totally the resorts f*** up...

BUT...like I said, i'm glad your feeling better!!! :)

AverageJane, I am so happy you're better too! Thank goodness for this forum and for having a heads up. So unprofessional of Dreams to do that, and they BETTER be giving you major discounts. I hear the weather is gorgeous there right now and I know it's going to go soooo well, good luck with everything and I'll be crossing my fingers that you get a free honeymoon suite for all of your nights there!

P.S. For those thinking of the map thing to include in invites, I just finished mine if you need some ideas!

wow, i just checked out the facebook page, and finally saw the new beach pics ... i wasn't sure what the big deal was until now, but now i see that the gazebo is no longer 3/4 surrounded by water. that's a huge bummer.

and averagejane, they violated your contract. it doesn't matter if they've provided a "temporary gazebo" in another location or not. you definitely have the right attitude (and apparently a wonderful FI) in realizing that you'll have a beautiful, love-filled, happy wedding day no matter what. that said, do not let them get away with not compensating you for this!

have they sent you a pic of the "temporary gazebo" yet?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
