Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

I am actually still up in the air about either Michael Maurus photography (Petra's husband) or Claudia. I love both of their styles, which are very similar, but while Michael offers a cheaper package Claudia offers a well known reputation for being very good. What's a girl to do? I did speak to clients of Michael's for references and all were good but there is still something preventing me from making the final decision. Can't quite put my finger on it!

Have you talked to either one Jen?
What about their availablility? Claudia has several people on her staff, all with different styles. Maybe see which one you would like best, see if they are available for your date. Same for Michael & Petra.
That might help make the decision :)

I think that you are very lucky then! LOL!
I know that with Claudia you get a CD with all the pictures they take included in the price of the package. I liked that.

Thanks for clearing up that Petra is Michael's wife. I had emailed Michael and received a response from Petra...little confusing. Are they both photographers? We really like the work on their website. My daughter is having a very small group of friends/family, less than 30, so there won't be a lot of family photos and tht sort of thing. Someone mentioned "Claudia". I haven't seen that name. Tell me more.

Thanks! I love reading what all of you ladies write.

this is claudias website

Claudia Rodriguez, Photographer, Cancun & Riviera Maya

She also has several associates, some of us are using Citlalli, some are using Erick, all of there work is on her website, I think the prices were pretty comparable with Michael Mauras, I had looked into both. I think Michael & Petra are very good too, I had a hard time deciding between the too, but went with Citlalli, from claudias studio.

I believe only Michael Maurus is a photographer but I could be wrong. I believe that Petra is a wedding ceremony officiant that can perfom the ceremony if need be. If you find out differently please let me know!

I think that I'm going to go with Michael becuase he has a package that does not include prints, just a CD & website of ALL pictures taken during the time period you hire him for. I then plan to select and "print" the prints myself and create coffee table books for the parents/in-laws. I don't have the exact figures in front of me but I believe this option was about $500-$600 cheaper then Claudia's lowest package. I had also inquired with Claudia if she had a "no print" option and she does but it would only be about $100 cheaper.

It all depends on what is important to you. To me, while I want pictures, I don't necessarily want to spend a ton of money on them. Both photographers have great prices to begin with, Michael's are just a little better for a very similar style. Also - be sure to ask that the travel fee be removed from the contract. I was told there was NO travel fee for weddings held in Cancun... which ours are! Every little bit helps :o)

the whole michael and petra thing confused me, I wasn't sure who was the photographer, but got emails from both. I thought they were one person at first.

Michael had a package 500-600 dollars cheaper than claudias lowest package? Her lowest package I think was 800, which I didn't think was too bad, I didn't think he had any packages for 200-300 dollars. We actually chose the second option which is 1000. We didn't want to spend a ton, if it was up to FI we would spend none, but I thought claudias prices were really reasonable and her pictures were very good.

Oops I misspoke! Thanks for checking me Jilly!

He was $500-$600 cheaper then Claudia's package for the same amount of time (5-6 hours) is what I meant to say! Essentially the same thing would cost approx $2200 with Claudia and $1700 with Michael. I have all the figures on my desk at work so I'll double check everything and then get back to y'all with the details tomorrow.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
