We are planning on going to the Hacienda because there will only be about 15 of us......but now I'm wondering if this is possible. Someone mentioned that you can do this only after midnight?? Oh well, I'm sure we will find somewhere to get our groove on!
Yup...that was me. I asked Jazmin about booking it for a couple hours before it opened and she said no...and that it opened at midnight for everyone. I know someone else who did book it, so not sure if policy has changed or it is because Thursdays are the fiesta night or something at the resort so something is already going on there.

Kiera - welcome back! Congrats:) Thanks for the info....they just had speakers there to use? There are going to be about 40 of us, so I don't want to go too cheap and have no dj and then no speakers by the poolsad.gif

Have no fear they have speakers and they work really well. They also set up a stand that had coloured lights on just like at a club or something. The rental was $20 USD per hour. Much more cost effective then a DJ.

Here is a picture of us dancing.

And, I couldn't resist...my niece decided she would show off her break dancing skills when Beastie Boys, Intergalactic came on. She was also a fan of the microphone and kept running up and saying "I love Mexico!".

I have also posted a review here, http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ictures-51767/. Feel free to ask all the questions you want. I know that I've left a bunch of stuff out.

I also wanted to mention that there is a cost to use the Hacienda on Thursday's, Mexican Night (not sure about the other nights). When I was planning the details with Karla this was originally what I wanted to do but when I found out it was $15 pp I decided to do the private cocktail reception. At $8 pp plus the $40 for their equipment the whole 2 hours cost us under $200.

Nope no wedding crash. Its weird, I thought I would feel different after saying "I do" and wearing an extra ring, but I feel the exact same. Like the whole thing was no big deal. I guess that can be attributed to the fact that we've been together for 7 years and already lived like we were married.

Here are some pictures the fam got that I've posted on facebook. I can't wait to see the ones the photographer got.

Hi Keira: I am new to this site and thanks for the review. I have a question about the cake. We are wanting to have the 3 milk cake but have read some posts saying it was really gross. What kind of cake did you have? Also did the resort do your flowers? Did you bring your own candles for the cake table? I will probably think of more questions to ask you. You looked really beautiful and loved your wedding cocktail dress!!!!

You meantioned that it ws the shortest ceremony ever.................

How fast was the ceremony? Was it personal or should a couple write our own vows to make it more personal.

We chose the tres leche (3 milk cake) and it was really good. Our family and friends enjoyed it too. It was moist and creamy and tasted like it was fresh out the oven. The only thing we didn't like was the fondant, but it wouldn't be a wedding cake if it didn't have that on top. Just peel it away and he the good stuff. :-)

As for flowers, I'm not a big fan. I had my bouquet made out of buttons, my bridesmaids carried parasols and the boutonnieres were made of feathers. If you want flowers I would find a picture of what you want and send it to your WC to see if it is possible to make there and what the extra cost might be, if any. The pictures that they have of flowers are quite outdated and IMO a little lackluster.

The only things I brought with me were hand fans and candy favours. All the other things were provided by the resort (chair sashes, flower petals, candles etc.)

Now for the ceremony. I'm pretty sure it was about 15 minutes long including signing everything. It wasn't really personal and there weren't an vows. The judge read a story about what marriage should be like, we put rings on and said "I do", signed and thumb printed, and it was done. I did bring my own written ceremony with me but Karla said what the judge had was really pretty so we went with that. I advise you to write your own and send it to your WC before hand so they can pass it along to the judge. You might even need to have it translated to spanish first.

Phew that was long winded. Hope I answered your questions. If you have any more just holla.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
