Hello & Welcome Turtlewax and DaniellaP. The Tulum and Akumal hotels both offer rooms closest to the beach. The Coba is set back from the beach (I believe a couple of minute walk) but they are also the newest rooms. Tulum is the oldest - that's where we stayed and we absolutely loved it!!

Tulum and Akuml both offer beach wedding locations (Coba might but I'm not too sure).

Here are pictures of the Tulum wedding locations:

Beach (this was our wedding setup):

Gazebo (these are older pictures that Jazmin sent us):

And here's the rain out location for Tulum (it's the Tequila restaurant):

Sorry that the pictures are really bad - everything does look a lot nicer in person!

My wedding isn't until March of 2010, but I'm wondering if we should plan it for a different time. We just planned it that week because my MOH is a teacher and doesn't get much extra time off, so I figured we'd go during her (and her hubby's) spring break. But, if the cost gets up there, then they wouldn't even be able to afford for her husband to come.

I think you're right. And I just found out that trips with layovers were over $100 cheaper, so I'm a little less freaking out. I think I was just being hormonal (that time of month) along with sleep deprived and it caused me to freak a little too much. Did any of you find that the prices and flights were drastically lower at a different time in the year?

i'm doing wedding favors

but i have a big gap between my ceremony and reception but i did that on purpose so i wouldn't be time crunched for pics and preparing for the reception.

we're getting married at noon but our reception isn't til 6pm so i figure that is tons of time to do pics, then freshen up, hang out and then set up our reception with name tags and favors. i'll probably do it myself or get my MOH to do it. but i'm sure if you ask the WC to set it up they probably could

sapphire - i think prices and flights do change depending on when you go. we purposely picked May cuz package prices for the resort drop by 200 bucks compared to april. if you pick a low season to travel in prices are normally lower

I did favors. i actually did photo holders which doubled as place cards. I simply gave them to the WC and she had them on my guest signature table. It worked out very well.

As far as the allergies, we didn't have any foodies with... but my sister and dad are deathly allergic to bees/wasps. There were NONE. Obviously they carried around their eppe pens just incase, but we never even saw one. The GBP sprays for bugs... so maybe that's why? Or it could have been the time of year too.

We are getting married August 2009 at Gran Bahia Principe.
Our biggest issue right now is trying to decide which resort to stay at. Coba? Tulum? or Akumal?
Any suggestions?
I really want to get married on the beach, and am not sure if all the resorts (Coba/Tulum/Akumal) offer a choice of getting married on the beach or not.
Does someone have a list of all the wedding sites for each section?

Hi Turtlewax,

We are staying at the Coba, and were just assigned a beach location. They sent us photos, and it looks beautiful. We chose the Coba as all the rooms are junior suites, which we thought guests would like for more room, but it is a few minutes from the beach. Your wedding restaurant choices at Coba are Le Gourmet, Portofino (Italian), a seafood restaurant, and a medittarian (I can't remember the other names.)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
