Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Oh no he lost his ring! Good thing you only paid $30 for it. One more question did you bring music for the dj to play? This is our next big project but we keep pushing it off, we are wondering how bad would it be if we only got some songs. LOL can you tell this was FI's job.

We didn't bring anything for the dj to play. I'm sure if you brought a cd, he would play from it. By the time we got to the disco, we didn't care anymore. I was out dancing with my sister and SIL in the middle of the hacienda with the dancers who worked there. They have music outside the disco until it opens.

Also, don't worry about trying to coordinate your group and their activities. It will only stress you out. Just tell people where you plan to be and let them follow you. It was difficult to find everyone since the resort is large and people kept going to different locations. We wound up just picking a place to be and telling people what time to meet us. Then we would pick an evening time to meet in one of the lobbies. Worked out better that way.

Wow, I've been gone two weeks and I've missed pages! Sorry I still haven't gotten around to writing our review, we've been crazy busy.

Anyways, sounds like there's been lots of talk about the spa so I thought I would throw in my two cents. Our wedding was perfect but the spa was horrible. I hate my hair. sad.gif In fact, when I look at our pictures I look so odd because the hair isn't me at all. The hairdresser spoke almost NO english. It was a complete nightmare. I brought 6 pictures of the hairstyle but what he did looked nothing like the picture. I got him to wash it out because it was so bad but what he did the second time wasn't much better. Plus he complained the whole time. We all felt so uncomfortable and it made for a miserable morning. And then on top of it, they overcharged us by over $200 US. Really, it's the only part of the wedding I regret. There wasn't enough time to redo my hair myself though so I left it as is. Also, they took FOREVER. My appt was at 11 and we were almost late for our wedding...which was at 5pm!!

So, I would make your appts ridiculously early. That way you're sure not to be late and you'll have time incase you have any problems.

Okay, I have a stupid but important question. For anyone who got married by the palapas (as we wish to do) do you wear shoes?? Or go barefoot?? Will you break your neck if you wear shoes, and I think it may be easier to g barefoot.... ALSO! I am flying my hairdresser/makeup artist down with me to Mexico. Will we be able to plug in her curling iron in the roomhuh.gif This is an important one!

Hi Joanna --

I got married on the Akumal Beach, not the palapas, but I am guessing our situations are similar wink.gif I got some platform flip-flops from MyGlassSlipper.com and wore those for the ceremony. I had regular wedding shoes as well that I wore for the reception. I would suggest getting some form of flip-flops, because you'll be roaming the entire resort taking pictures and the stilettos are not easy to get around in on different terrains!

I was barefoot and loved it. All of my ladies were barefoot, and some of our guests. We just kicked our flip flops off in a bush by the snack bar before we walked down. Loved it. Then after the wedding one our guests went and got all the shoes so we could begin our trek down the beach taking photos.

Now, for the curling iron, you shouldn't have a problem.

We got married by the palapas and all wore flip flops. Some of our guests were in heels and they didn't have an issue - I just wouldn't recommend stilleto's heels. Although it's a long walk down the aisle, where you get dropped off is the very beginning of the aisle (they have a large palm that blocks your guests from seeing you) so you really don't have that far to walk on the sand. Also, Jazmin gives you the option of an carpeted aisle if you want it (although the carpet is red).

Our ceremony was at 5pm so we didn't do any pictures on the beach because it was so dark. If you are planning on walking on the beach for a while to do pictures, then I would bring flip-flops, etc.

ETA: Oops, forgot about the curling iron. You shouldn't have a problem plugging it in. The plugs are different shaped but our plugs still fit in them. However, there is a raised plastic circle around the outlet. So if you have a regular plug (like for a toaster), then it's no problem. You know how some products (like professional hair straighteners) have a 'box' on the plug? Or like how the battery chargers are for digital cameras? Those you can't plug in because the raised plastic is in the way. However, you can buy an adaptor from the desk for $2. As well, one of our guests had an 'american' outlet in their room so they could plug everything in without an adaptor.

Does anyone know how to contact guests while you are at the resort and tell them where and when to be for the wedding? Jazmin told us we will not know the time of the wedding until we get there. Also, we have guests staying at other resorts, and they will be coming as guests for the day. When do we tell them to arrive and how do they go about buying their guest passes?

    • It’s been years... and I’m now searching for the same in Montego Bay or Negril. Did anyone ever have any luck finding?
    • Hello, I'm new to this site. I got engaged already and get married by next year. I have some doubts regarding our dating destination. Hope you will help me. Thank You!
    • Hello everyone,
Well, this upcoming valentine's day is special for me because I got engaged and planning to spend the day with my fiance. I'm planning to give her an ethical jumpsuit.

Other than that I have been searching the internet for some nice discounted coupons and searched among my friends and found different sites. Now, we are looking forward to that wonderful day. We searched a lot and found out, Escape The City. Orangeville is a great place for a day trip or weekend gateway from Toronto.
Theatre Orangeville is offering a weekend package that includes 2 tickets to a Live performance at the theatre, Premium Overnight Accommodations at Best Western Plus Orangeville Inn and Suites and $75 Downtown Wine and Dine Voucher which is valid at select Downtown restaurants, and Free Entry to the scenic Trails & Bridges of Island Lake.

We are so excited and eagerly waiting for that day.
If anyone has got any other suggestions for the venue, kindly share your thoughts/ideas.
      Thank You!

    • Please tell me, the best wedding venue in Saskatoon, SK.
    • Hey everyone! Like the others here, I'm interested in wedding reception, venue and all related steps & stuff. Starting with my first and the most important note is that we're international couple and we need to think of bilingual wedding. So the first thing we need to think of is whether it will be interpretation or 2 different venue coordinators, sermons and stuff? What is your experience, what could be the best and affordable solution? From googling the issue I've found this Interactio app team ( describing possible solution here  http://blog.interactio.io/case-study-weddings )Basically they offer to hold the venue in the main language, additionally providing simultaneous interpretation online to other quest's mobile phones. Looks like really easy and creative idea. What about the others? How did you solve this kind of obstacle? Any additional advises would be very welcomed here
