Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Are the extra tan tableclothes and chair ties included in the private receptions? I would assume that is something extra they brought? Does anyone know if they have the white chair covers for the reception? The cocktails are included if you go with the $46 theme dinner, correct? Do they charge you more for drinks if you have a dj after dinner outside? Thanks!

OK so I guess since we are almost at the 6mo mark I am starting to get nervous about the reception. We are right now planning on having dinner in a resturant then having the dancing with a DJ poolside.

1) Did anyone play music at dinner? If so did you bring your own on cds and what was it played on.

2) We want a DJ for the poolside did they do the MC, if you had dinner at a resuraunt did you do the cake at the reception is that an option as we do not think people will want it right after dinner?

3) With the DJ did you provide all the music in proper order for him to play or did you just give him some key songs and he filled in the rest?

Yes, I would also like to know about the chair covers if they are included with the dinner (I hope they are) but why would Jazmin show the picture of all of that with the setup with the extras like chair covers? If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know as well!

Okay, I have a question to add too!

For those of you that did the private poolside dinners, how far is it from the closest bar? The reason I ask is that we're doing a cocktail hour before and after with "special cocktails" but are wondering if someone wants something that's not included (wine, hard bar, etc.), is there a bar close by that they can grab drinks from?

Ok. I thought I was all set on having a meal in the Mexican restaurant with drinks by the pool after. Now after seeing RyanAmanda's photos of the mixed grill, I'm wavering. It looked really great! And I guess this way your guests can eat what they want (as opposed to the restaurant where if you have over 15 people you can only choose one set menu). Oh. I'm so confused! RyanAmanda - did Jazmin send you a list of what was being served in the mixed grill? Because it looked like there were quite a lot of options...

Hey guys! I have my review just about ready! I just need to add my pictures to it! My BIL is doing much better and we are finally home. We are moving this weekend, so if I don't get a chance to post my review tomorrow, it will be done after Sunday. I am such a slacker! sad.gif

1) Did anyone play music at dinner? If so did you bring your own on cds and what was it played on. I was told you can't have music at dinner because it is only semi private. But, there wasn't anyone at our restaurant during dinner. Besides all the guests were talking and didn't even notice there wasn't music.

2) We want a DJ for the poolside did they do the MC, if you had dinner at a resuraunt did you do the cake at the reception is that an option as we do not think people will want it right after dinner? We did cake at dinner because we chose tres leches and didn't want it to melt in the heat. The tres leches cake SUCKED though, I don't recommend it. A friend of ours was the MC. Jazmin asked if we had an MC, so I think maybe their DJ can do it?

3) With the DJ did you provide all the music in proper order for him to play or did you just give him some key songs and he filled in the rest?

We just gave him two cds. We had a bunch of funny songs that we knew our guests would like and we also had special songs for most of the couples, so it was just better that we made our own cds.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
