Ahhhhh we are leaving on Sunday and I am super excited but starting to feel a little bit stressed over last min details.

We are having our own photographer coming and staying with us for the week so when the resort photographers emailed us a few times throughout the planning process, I just kinda ignored their emails.

Last week I started to feel rude so I sent them a quick email back saying that thank you for the info and that their work is very nice however we are having 50 friends and family coming to stay the week and between them we should have more than enough shots to capture our moment.

They responded with a nice email saying that they respect out wishes. However if we have external photographer coming with us they must stay the minimum 5 days at the resort and we must provide them with:

Photographers names, arrival and departure dates, hotel accommodation, booking, number, company name, company address, company phone #, and email contact, And that we would also have to fill out a service cancellation form.

Why do they need all this information on my photographers company? They are staying as guest for a full 7 days.  I donâ€t feel right providing their personal information to another photography company. Why do they need any contact information, there should be no need for them to speak with each other.

As far as filling out this cancellation of service form, Iâ€m kinda annoyed. Maybe I am over reacting but itâ€s just one more thing I have to worry about doing and the list is already very long.  I have already sent an email informing them we will not require their service, so they have it in writing, why do I have to fill out another form!?!?

Has anyone else had to provide this info and fill out this form?

P.S. Sorry for the rant!!

You both must be so excited! Congrats and all the best! I look forward to hearing all about your weddings when you get back! :)

I have had a couple emails with the wedding planner, but I still trying to figure out flowers and everything. I didn't know that we coudl have a cocktail hour, which is amazing, and if there is time, that would be a great place for people while we are getting photos done.

I am using the resort DJ. Fingers crossed it works out fine!

We are traveling Sunday to Sunday. We are also planning on having a group party at cocobongo on the Monday night.

I cannot wait!

What are your colours? or decorations you want to use? I am thinking lanterns for the pool party.

We are also using the resort DJ...I have read mostly good things.

I am thinking of getting an outside vendor for flowers.  I looovvee Orchids and neeeed ;) them at my wedding, I know it will be expensive, but Im hoping I can save a bit of money by going with an outside vendor.  I plan on emailing Marvin (now I forget his company name), but it sounds like he provides quality flowers for waay cheaper than what the resorts charge. What are you thinking for flowers?

I am also thinking of lanterns (white) for the pool side party.  I saw this picture on the Knot (I think) of lanterns on the ceremony chairs tied with ribbon (in wedding colours)  and slung over the chairs on the aisle.  Very pretty and then the lanterns could be moved to the poolside reception for double duty!  I also  want additional fabric hung over the top arch for the ceremony...probably white.

My colours are fuchsia and royal blue.  What are your colours?

Do you know if  the restaurants have the same table configurations or can you choose? (eg 6 people to a table)

We had our own photographer but did choose to get the 15 pictures that were included in our package from the resort photographer. They told us that they keep photos for 3 months after the wedding date and you have within that time frame to contact them to request more if you wanted. We didn't contact them so I don't know if it works out or not, but it is presented as an option. Hope that helps.

I'm using Marvin for my flowers! He'll save you SO MUCH money compared to the resort. Especially if you want orchids- as I do...they're a necessity for me too! I even got my centerpieces through him also. My total bill was $1000 cheaper than the resort quoted me. His company is Maya Diseno Floral.

The absolute last thing I'm going to do is give anyone the information of where I'm staying. No way! So my brides have always ignored that email, but filled out the form saying they don't need the services.

And I've always stayed three nights without a problem.

I think the 3 night min has now changed to 5 nights...... thats what the resort photographer just told me a couple days ago. Im arguing as well with him that i dont need to provide all that info and that they will deal with me in Mexico. Not impressed by them being VERY pushy.

Hello everyone

I think my wedding coordinator is trying to pull a fast one on me. Firstly I'm paying for 78 people for a private supper (the grill option) and i have seen the menu and know for sure that they have dessert included. She has told me that nothing dessert wise comes with my meal because she has been pushing for me to upgrade my wedding cake which i do not want (we are not huge cake eaters). Then she has quoted me $210/hour for a DJ and $180/hour for renting two speakers and a microphone. With my flowers I was told I could have certain flowers, so when i told her what i wanted within the guidelines she then came back saying i would have to pay more because although they included the flowers i wanted they didnt have the three colors i wanted together!!!! I leave in less then a week and have been very easy to work with but I feel like my bridezilla may need to make an appearance so I stop getting walked all over. This is crazy. Anyone else getting treated like this????

Thanks

That is great to hear! Thanks! I will for sure email him.  I will probably order centrepieces through him as well, Did you send him pictures of exactly what you wanted? Did he respond to your emails quickly? I notice that your  wedding is coming up so fast! Congrats! Can't wait to see pics!

Tikka,

I am so sorry that you are feeling so stressed out and feeling like you are getting walked all over...Like everyone says on here...It always works out  I am sure your wedding will be beautiful.    Does the DJ not provide the speakers?  Or are the speakers and microphone for something else?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
