Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies,

We've been home for just over a week now. We had an amazing time, thank you all for your help & suggestions.

I created a review of the resort if anyone is interested. Beware it's long!

Once we get some more photos from our photgrapher, I'll post them. Here are the sneak peaks from our TTD & wedding day. Sorry they're so large.

We did the TTD just outside of the akumal golden beach.

Thanks for the review AD2012 and congratulations.

Have a fab time Coba Bride 2012. Cannot wait for your review and pics.

Just a quick question for everyone. I am travelling from the UK and am hearing mixed opinions on the best currency to take. Some people say that the currency is the peso so take the peso. Some recommend the US dollar. All the prices of things at the hotel are in dollars. When we visited Mexico before we were recommended to take the US dollar but that was about 10 years ago and things may have change since then. Plus we still got change in peso's anyway so got confusing. Any advice?

I know we won't need to carry too much money with being all inclusive. Mainly for tips and excursions. Do most people pay for the wedding by card?

When I was there in January I paid with US dollar.  They did give me change in pesos, but it was small amounts.

I paid for my wedding (back in 2008... sorry!) all on credit card.  I also paid for my incidentals (room safe) on my credit card this past January.

You're safe with either but I think USD are more prominent over there.

Speaking of paying for wedding related stuff....I know certain things are to be paid in cash - like the wedding officiant

Does anyone have a list of who will need to be paid in cash and what can be paid on CC??

Sunshine -  You have to pay for the blood tests & deposit on your wedding package in cash.Your WC will take the deposit at your meeeting.  Everything else can be put on your CC or charged to your room. When I had spoke with Jazmin about how to pay for eveything she said i could pay by CC at first then told me I needed cash for the deposit right before we left.

Fraggle - USD is fine, that's what we had. If you go to any vendor and they give you a total in Peso's they can convert it on the spot for you and give you the total in USD.

Oh yeah, forgot about the blood tests.  The DJ also has to be paid in cash, or at least it had to be when I was there.

    • I know it is really tough job to get everything at best cost. I would like to suggest to contact local wedding planner or decorators to get the quotes. It will take some time but by comparing different quotes you will get the best package.
    • If you want to enjoy your wedding then go for a dance floor. It is a precious moment of your life and you should enjoy it.
    • As you have said it is going to be a beach wedding so I would recommend a combination of Calla Lily and Daffodil. You can also use Calla lily or Daffodil individually. Both the flowers have different colors so it will easily attract anyone.

    • I’m a wedding planner/organizer by profession. Truth be told, I don’t have that much experience in the industry but I’m doing the best I can. We will be working on a wedding next month with a foreign couple. I’m usually the one who handles everything on behalf of the bride during the day so I need some tips and advice on how to handle brides from foreign countries. Do they need special accommodations? What are the kinds of services they are used to when under pressure? What kind of snacks should I offer them during breaks or when they’re hungry? Thanks so much in advance.
