Thank you for the info about kids...it is very reassuring we have been mainly concerned with the food and if we would have to bring a weeks worth of bottled baby food with us!

Excellent review Jill. Thank you. I am a bit put off by the prayers in the ceremony. Can anyone tell me if this is standard in the legal ceremony too?

Hi I have been looking at the tripadvisor forum for restaurants at the resort. Not for the wedding meal. Just in general for the holiday. Does anyone have any preferences, recommendations? Also can anyone tell me how many people can be seated at the Mikado show table? And we are staying in the Tulum section - I know we can use restaurants in Akumel and Coba sections but can we also use the Sian Kaan restaurants and facilities or is this an exclusive area? I am sure we have enough to choose from in the other 3 areas but I am just curious.

Yes, they do provide transportation. As both my mom and dad walked me down the aisle, the three of us just hung out in the shade outside of the villa while everyone else gathered at the snack bar and then when it was time a guy came with a golf cart picked us up and drove us over to where we would start walking (which was a less than 1 min walk, but it was nice to feel special with the little ride).

We had four kids in our group - ages 9, 7, 3, and 6 months old - and everything went well with them. Granted the baby was still breast feeding so they didn't really have to worry about much for her, but otherwise I would say the resort is very accommodating.

Yeah, the prayers were a little much for my taste and I was surprised by them, but overall it was a really nice ceremony. If we had known in advance I think I would have talked to our WC about it and had it taken out or something. So now that you know, it might be something that you can ask your WC about and discuss in more depth. They really do an amazing job to make the whole day perfect for you, so don't be afraid to ask about things at all :)

My Husband and I are not religious either, but I thought the symbolic ceremony was very nice.  They did have a few prayers, and honestly I don't really remember much about them!  I was just so excited to be marrying him it didn't really matter what the minister said..all I remember about the words he said was I thought it was very beautiful (and thankfully short!)

So as a non-religious person it didn't bother me, I didn't think it was over the top or anything.

I took, baby milk as he was only 8 months but they do have cows milk if your baby is on that when you go, I also took 2 powder food that is mixed with cool boiled water just in case and only used half, I'm sure you will be fine, I also took nappies, wipes, swim nappies although he was naked most the time as swim nappies gave him nappie rash. Are you staying at the Akumal side or the Coba side.  If you're staying at the Coba side, lanterns will be difficult to string up.  But I think they'd look really cool in the hammock area of the pool which is empty during the reception.  You could make that into a kind of dance floor, although most likely everyone will end up in the pool.

My FI and I are thinking of doing our own personal vows - so it would be nice to have this organized ahead of time...

No, you only meet with your WC. We read our own vows and also had a reading that Steve's sister read and we just told Eugenia during our meeting with her when we got down there and she passed that information along to the minister. Everything flowed very well during the ceremony and it was great.

I just watched our video again and this is the order of ours (symbolic):

Opening prayer (very short)

A little speech about marriage and the support of friends and family.

A very short passage from the Bible.

A talk about the importance of marriage and your relationship.

Reading of Corinthians.

The "I Do" Vows

Our own Vows

Exchanging of Rings

Signing of the Certificate (we had a song for this which was suggested on this board and I thought it was nice to have)

Reading by Steve's Sister

Prayer blessing the marriage (again short)

Presentation of Couple & Kiss

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
