Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am planning a hen party (British term for bachelorette party) at the resort. We still plan to visit coco bongo but not as part of the stag or hen parties because not all guests will want to come - for the same reason as you - money spent on the holiday.

I am not worried about having the night at the resort. As you say, the night will be what you and the girls make of it.

After spending all the money on the all-inclusive resort and trip I know that most of my guests don't want to spend any more so I planned on having a little 'Sexy Librarian" Theme bachelorette party just at the resort. So after the Welcome Dinner we are having (just in one of the buffets) all the girls are going back to my room and are giving me gifts of either lingerie or books (depending on comfort level) and then I have to guess who gave me what... for every wrong guess I have to take a drink! So after this game and whatever I was just planning on heading to one of the bars and then the Disco for some late night fun where we will mostly meet up with all the boys....

Anyway, I guess the point of this post was just to get a little reassurance that this plan will be fun even thought its not the planned trip to Coco Bongo... although it should be with the group of people going... we can party anywhere and have fun :)

I'll be sure to write a detailed review when I get back.

Best wishes Sarah!!  I cannot wait to hear how amazing your wedding was!

For the music, it cannot be MP4s (what iTunes are).  It has to be able to play in a very old cd player.  Some people have had luck with MP4s, however it's definitely not worth it to risk it if you can avoid it!  Cheryl's disc, for instance, did NOT play for the ceremony.

Thanks once again!

Jill

I think glow necklaces would be more fun than glow sticks.  Just personal opinion :)  But it's DEFINITELY dark enough.  We had glow ice cubes at my wedding and they were awesome.  It really made me wish I brought glow necklaces.  The dance floor would have been awesone!

Make sure your photographer gets some awesome pictures of the glow-sticks... they make for super fun photos!

Everything that I have heard is that the disco is fun, but it's loud and it's hot.  As long as you go into it knowing that, you'll have a blast I'm sure.

As for your bachelorette night... seriously, that sounds like SO much fun.  You'll have a fantastic time!!

Quote: Now if only I could convince them of this form of payment!! If you spray the living crap out of it, it should hold a curl, however I would be more concerned about the wind.  It's really windy, and your hair will definitely be in your face, so just keep that in mind.   For my wedding I had two 18 month old girls.  They had SOO much fun.  The "kids pool" is just perfect for them!  As for the milk, they do have it at every meal, and if you ask, you can usually get a carton of it. I would book your spa appointments early.  10 or 10:30 if you can.  It's better to have more time to relax with your ladies than to be stressed out.  Especially if something goes wrong or communication breaks down while getting your hair done.    Yeah, hair down... wind... meh.  It's definitely humid, so if humidity will wreck your curls then I wouldn't risk it, but usually they'll stay curled with massive amounts of spray.  I would at least pin part of it up so that it's not in your face during the ceremony and pictures.
Thanks Trish...Not sure what to do, think I may go with it up....Then I wont be pushing it out of my face all the time! :) x

Gena...Im exactly the same as you ...With a 1PM wedding and NO way of changing the time!! I too have quite a heavy dress! What time do you girls think for my hair appointment with a 1pm wedding? Krama...Which coco bongos did you go to? I heard there was 1 in Riviera Maya and 1 in Cancun. Is the Riviera Maya as good as Cancun?

Hey Everyone, I'm leaving on Saturday and the wedding is on Tuesday.  Very exciting...  We have 102 people going, so it's going to be a once in a lifetime trip.  Unfortunately, my neck is just clearing up from ringworm (fungus) and then woke up today and my eye is swollen... never had anything like this in my life and then right before the wedding BAM!  Oh well, I'm banking on makeup (and medication) to do the trick.  I wanted to say thank-you to everyone.. I don't participate too much on here but certainly have read every page... ;)  You all offer such good advice.  Tlseegee thank-you for your wealth of information and pictures.  I really appreciate it.  I do have one last question for you.  What did you say about the music and the old CD players?  What kind of file do I need and which do I need to avoid? We went to the one in Playa Del Carmen. I haven't been to the one in Cancun but I've heard it's just as good, if not better, than the Cancun one. I honestly can't remember how long it took (too many bevies perhaps!) but I think it was about 1/2 an hour betwen the resort and Coco Bongo, maybe less. We bought our tickets through the resort. Coco Bongo has a rep on site that will organize everything for your group.

Thank  you for the excellent tip to ask point blank about the additional meals instead of the theme menu.  Today I heard back from the coordinator and YAAAY they are still an option : )  So we are now booked for a private poolside dinner followed by the poolside reception, I am really excited itâ€s starting to feel real!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
