Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

You can use the lanterns- if you supply them. They will set them up for you the day of the wedding as well...

I just would like to know if I need to bring string to hang them and if I need to bring batteries and light bulbs for each lantern- as some of the pictures on facebook only look like the lanterns are used for decor and may not actually be lit?

Has anyone brought shells down to use in their wedding before?  I found a big package of shells at dollarama (only $2!)  I want to incorporate them into my place cards but I can't find anywhere if there will be an issue bringing them across the border.  Has anyone else brought shells into Mexico in there luggage?

I tried to write as much details about the restaurants as i could.

Gran Torguta - Round and square tables (the round ones seat 6, the square seat 4).  Can be pushed together to have a table of 10.  White table clothes and little vases with flowers in them.

I took individually wrapped candy down in my checked luggage so you should be fine to do the same. I used them on the tables as part of the decor.

Hi! I'm not sure who my WC is as I go through all my wedding planning through my travel agent and then she contacts WC directly. I hope its not the same as yours since she is away until end of October. I'm surprise your WC doesn't have anyone replacing her while she is out of the office. Best of luck and will let you know about the sky lanterns when I find out!

i am wondering who your WC is? i emailed mine 3 weeks ago and she has yet to get back to me, i know that normally it takes some time to get back but it has never taken her this long before. I wanted to make sure that for the DJ all we would have to pay if we wanted to hire an outside one is the day pass. I am almost sure of this and i would like to hire DJ Bijan, he has my date open for now and said that he would need a deposit if we book him, i do not want to do this until i get the ok from her but i have yet to hear anything. I have sent 3 emails and even emailed Paloma she got back to me but didnt answer my questions just asked who my wedding coordinator was and my wedding date and stated that they work with great dj's at the resort. Anyways so it would be nice to know if my WC was gone or if she is just ignoring me.

Awww, I know how you feel... who ever said destination wedding was stress free!! We are arriving at the resort on May 18-25. My TA said that the flights were "sold out" too, meaning that its not literally all sold out just reserved up from other bridal party. As of now Edmonton and Calgary are sold out, so were putting our guest on the wait list. My fingers are crossed for more open spaces! Were flying with Nolitours and there's been talks of a bigger air craft as well :). Have you thought about asking your Calgary people to fly out of Toronto? I know its a little more expensive, but if space doesn't open up then that could be an option.

We reserved  seats of out Edmonton, Caglary & Toronto leaving May 6th and later found out the flights out of Cagary leave on the 4th rather than the 6th, which would have our guests from Calgary leaving mexico the day after our wedding which isn't ideal. After finding this out we asked to have our calgary seats moved to Edmonton (as there werent very many) and were told the May 6th flight out of Edmonton was already sold out!! I was a little shocked!

I also think that the resort photographer's prices are ridic! We priced it out and it would cost us less to fly out photographer out for a week, which is what I think we will do.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
