Not sure about the flowers - I didn't really like the ones Jazmin sent - course it doesnt help that those pics look like they're from 1980! ha ha
I'll be sending Jazmin a pic of the bouquets I want - and if she can't do them - I'll just use the florist I found in PDC

I've put my deposit down for Styling Trio Riviera to do my hair and makeup - I've heard mixed reviews about the salon at the resort and i really dont want to take any chances.
Meanwhile - I'll be getting some trials done here at home and take pictures - to send down

As for the cake- I think i'll be upgrading to a larger cake - because its still quite small..and i'll be keeping the mini desserts that come with the buffet menu!

Very interesting about the skeeters. i was there in Jan 2010 and didn't get bit at all. My parents will be heading down this November so I'll ask them to take note - as my wedding will be the same time next year.

Jazmin just sent me the bouquet options and I really like the white flower bouquets, I personally donâ€t prefer the ones that are really long stems and you have to kind of cradle them.  Are there any previous brides that chose their bouquet from the catalogue that could post pictures on here?  I am finding it hard to pick, I wish the catalogue showed different angles of each bouquet.  Also for any one that has had a bouquet that didnâ€t have a holder and just had the stems (long or short) did you find that the green in the stems leaked or got on your dress?

I canâ€t decide if I should get my make-up trial done at home and get some pointers on how to do it myself, or get a trial and have it done at the resort.  For anyone who had their make-up done at the resort, did it last all day?

As for the wedding cake, did anyone get the larger cake plus a dessert?  I am worried that if we buy a bigger cake plus a dessert no one will eat the cake; I am really leaning towards just getting a bigger cake and no dessert form the menu.  What did previous brides think of their cakes?

As for mosquitoes, I have been to this resort twice, last time was in Feb 2010 (when we got engaged) and I never saw a single mosquito on the resort or on our excursions (though there were a lot of black fly type things when we went to a cenote).  I still plan on bringing a small bottle of bug spray just in case but I donâ€t know if it would be worth putting in oot bags?

I agree I do not like the ones you have to cradle. But I really want calla lillies and that seems to be the bouquet you cradle, hopefully they can do calla lilly bouquet that I can hold normally. Also, I need suggestions... I asked for white callas with pink accents... which flowers do you think will go good with callas?

Thanks, I am hoping that the mosquitoes will not be a problem in January.

For the bouquet this is the picture i sent them and they said that it should not be a problem at all with them doing this, and then i am going to have just the lilies with long stems for my bridesmaids which again she said should be fine:

I have not decided what I am going to do for my makeup either so i would love to hear if the resort did a good job, or if i should just plan on doing it myself.

For the cake, I think that I am just going to get the one that is given to us, I am not a big dessert person so that is not as important to me, and I think that as long as there is enough cake to go around that it should be fine

I had my make-up done at the resort and it lasted very well (mius the lipstick... bring your own to reapply!), however it wasn't dramatic (i don't wear makeup normally so this was important to me).  I'm not sure if you got heavy makeup done (like a smokey eye or something) if it'd last.

As for the wedding cake, did anyone get the larger cake plus a dessert?  I am worried that if we buy a bigger cake plus a dessert no one will eat the cake; I am really leaning towards just getting a bigger cake and no dessert form the menu.  What did previous brides think of their cakes?   I got the larger cake and was told there would be no other dessert, but the buffet had them anyways.  More people at the cake than the little desserts.  Probably because the little desserts were available every day at the normal buffets so the cake was special.  And it was delcious!

We were there Feb of 2010 and didnt really have a mosquito problem.  My FI is allergic to mosquito bites and although we go prepared, he was fine!  I have been reading Tripadvisor and right now I understand that the mosquitos are really bad.  Guess its the time of year.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
