Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Oh my, We have under 2 weeks to go now....yikes

What are you guys doing for music? are you bringing your ceremony music on ipod or cd? How many songs?

I have asked and I always get," ok sure " ?

I worried about the length of the song, how long does it take to walk down the sand I wonder...I would hate to get there half way through the song and just be standing there till it

finishes.

What songs are you guys using for when the guests take their seats?

I had my ceremony music on a CD and the DJ played some songs off my ipod during the reception that he didn't have in his own collection.

Our ceremony was at the gazebo and they aisle was quite long so I think it took at least a minute or two to walk down it. I don't think I used the entire song but they just fade it out when you reach the end of the aisle and the ceremony is about to begin. Honestly, you won't even notice the music! You'll be focused on your groom at the end of the aisle (and not tripping over your dress). :)

I picked out a bunch of fun, beachy, love songs to play while the guests were seated. Off the top of my head I remember "It's now or never" by Elvis (I thought that was hilarious), "Come fly with me" by Micheal Buble and "For once in my life" but Stevie Wonder.

I can't believe it's almost been a year! I want to do it all over again!

Julie2011- are you doing the akumal hammock site for ceremony?? if so, i wonder how long it takes to walk down that aisle tooo!! im using Jason Mraz's- I'm Yours for my song, and I want to at least get to the part that says "im yours" and i know it takes 50 seconds to get to that part lol maybe if i walk real slow!! i was told 4 songs. one for bridesmaids, one for you, one for signing and one for recessional. but i want to add a 5th one for when the guests are arriving to take their seats. unless they have music for that?

Crystalz, why do you need to bring fabric at all? Isn't decoration of the wedding site included? Would fabric not fall into this category? Do you have unique colours or something? I never even considered this... if I don't bring fabric, is it just plain brown wood?! Now I'm worried.

24 days to go!!

Wcook- i remember seeing somewhere on this thread that this one bride brought 12-13 yards of fabric but it didn't touch the ground. I'm bringing 15 yards down just in case, and if there is extra their just gonna make bows for the chairs out of it :)

I just received our shipment of insulated mugs.  They look nice and I will need to add water resistant labels to them because I didn't pay extra to have them printed.  But it got us to wondering, how are we going to take all this stuff with us on the plane.  Do people bring extra luggage or ship things to the hotel?  Or am I supposed to give the OOT bags to some of the guests beforehand? Any past brides have recommendations on this?

Saucy Friend- I was told to bring my own fabric if I wanted it---bummer I know. I was going to bring it, but now decided not to- I have 2 kids and tons of oot bag stuff to pack to thats just one more thing to bring down.

I love Jason Mraz- Im yours- Great Pick!!!

Im glad to hear you dont really think about the music- cause I have been over thinking the timing of it all...Im going to have to crawl down the aisle to hear the entire song I think,,,,lol

Christi: Glad you got your cups! Those will go over great with your guests! Check with your airline on the number of luggage pieces each person can check. I called my airline and each person can check in 2 pieces of luggage under 50 pounds each. So my plan was to pack everything and depending on the number of extra suit cases I ended up with I was planning to have my parents act like one of the luggages were theirs to check in so I didn't have to pay to bring extra luggage. Since I had that figured out I talked with the airline to discover I can check in a cardboard box as a piece of luggage. So that's what I'm going to do! All my OOT bags will be in the cardboard boxes and then once they are passed out I can throw away the boxes. That will be better than having to bring home empty luggage in order to get everything down there. Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
