Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Thanks Tl, that's actually very helpful!!

I just seem to be kind of stuck on the two kiddy pools at the Barcelo, but we're thinking of having the wedding at GBP and then possibly heading over to the barcelo for a few days, we've always said that 7 days just isn't long enough to be in paradise, so we may very well stay an extra fw days!

Kids... ours LOVED the GBP! (well, not mine personally, but our flower girls). We had two little girls (under 2). The activity pools have shallow areas where they could actually stand themselves. we brought beach balls and just had a blast. It was great. And the resort really caters to children. It was lovely.

The water park at Barcelo was pretty awesome though. I'll give you that.

Hi Waybuloo,

We've picked the beach location. It was a tough choice, but the picture Paloma sent us of the beach wedding made our decision a bit easier!

It's only 5.5 months away! Can't believe it!!

You're coming from England? Do you have quite a few relatives going over for the wedding?

Yes there is 42 of us in total....am sooo excited!!!!  The beach setting is very beautiful but for me I am short & my fiance is very tall so I wanted to still wear heels....I will definitely be heading down to the beach for some photographs though.

What other plans have you made?  We are having dinner at Le Gran Tortuga & then a poolside reception.  The only thing I am quite nervous about is the photographer...which reminds me.....SWANKSTER where is your review....hahahaha....am dieing to see more of your pictures :)

We have just booked it so far...just made our decision on friday! So you can give me some ideas! lol

Is it a private dinner? Or just the all-inclusive meal? And if you don't mind me asking, how much is the poolside reception? We were looking into that, but I haven't been able to get any answers yet from Paloma! We're waiting to see if FI's brother is coming to the wedding, he's a fantastic photographer so that would be perfect! I haven't even seen the prices on how much their photographer is? We're trying to stay within a low budget. That was the point for us on going away, so we don't want to spend too much on extras! Which package did you pick?

42? That's a lot of people! People are just booking now, so far there's about 15, expect probably another 10 or so? Should be a good crowd. I wasn't expecting too much as I hadn't given anyone much time to prepare! lol.

Hello Ladies!  First of all let me say what a wonderful find this website is!  It is great to not feel so in the dark about everything trying to plan a DW!  I am sure I will have many questions along the way but does anyone have any insight into which restaurant to pick for our wedding dinner?  We are getting married at the Akumal location March 2011 and our choices are Frutos del Mar and Dolce Vita.  Has anyone been to either of these?  Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
