If you want to pick up an adapter so you feel better and are not worrying, WalMart usually has a whole "kit" of them in the luggage dept. They are about $20...maybe $10...I don't remember, sorry, but they were not a lot. I bought mine there about 6 years ago and it had all the different ends for various countries as well as a main adapter that has a changable fuse (extras included) - it is still going strong. I bought a second one there as a gift last year. Hope that helps!

For us the walk from our villa to the Akumal beach was about 15-20 min. We were close to the Coba quiet pool but more towards the Akumal beach it's self.

We never walked from the Coba to the Haacienda. Personally I think that it would be too far to have your guests walk. I would guess that from the Coba lobby it would take 20 plus minutes and from the pool areas I would add another 5 min or so.

There are carts that can take everyone around though. I believe they will provide and plan these out for you since they're aware of the distances between you locations. Perhaps, you should contact the WC before hand to see what transportation is covered to ensure that it's all seamless when you get there.

I agree with Kiera, I would rely on the cart transportation. It should only take 5 minutes that way instead of having your guests walk in the heat, and possibly high heels. Also, the hacienda bus is definitely the way to get to the Hacienda. I wouldn't walk that... VERY LONG walk. Plus, it makes a cute picture for your photographer to take!

And as far as mailing things ahead of time... DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!! There are a ton of threads on this forum. Do not mail things. More than likely they will get lost or stuck in customs. You are much better off taking extra luggage or having your guests take luggage.

I agree with this too. You're better off bringing it with you and/or your guests. One thing I would like to add (I think Emme mentioned this) is bring the reciepts for everything that you're bringing down with you. This could save you alot of hassle if you get stopped with the customs folks.

I also had signs which read something to the effect of "this is for the XXXX/XXXX wedding." It said it in English and in Spanish. I figured that way if they opened it, they'd know what it was for and that i didn't plan on selling it!

Funny thing is, I was just away photographing a wedding and I found one of my signs!!

What kinds of things would have trouble in customs? What exactly did you need receipts for? Sorry... I just never thought about this before and I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this stuff I guess! For example... did you need receipts for the favors? The OOT bags/contents? Other things?

I was wondering the same thing. We are actually talking about trying to get together with everyone a few days before the trip...a kind of group bon voyage. That way we can hand out the oot bags before we go so we do not have to transport them and just take the ones for people coming that don't live near us.

 

Did you guys transport all the oot bags, mugs and all, on your own?

Yup, I transported everything for my OOT bags in my luggage. And you're not allowed to bring anything into Mexico for resale, that's why you have to bring receipts to prove you don't have over a certain amount of goods, and so that you can prove it's not for resale.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this stuff. I brought receipts for everything just to be one the safe side.

Oh and I also made extra sure that I had all the paper work for my engagement ring and our wedding bands. A girlfriend of mine was asked for proof that her rings were hers and not purchased locally while she was on her honeymoon. My guess is they wanted to try and charge her some type of duty. Luckily she had all that stuff with her.
