Although we have not set up all of our plans yet, so I am hoping we don't get the same inconsistency that some of you have had with pricing and the other things they offer. We don't want a DJ either and we were hoping to use the ipod, so I will let you know what they tell us.

Katie,

When do you arrive at the resort? We are getting married April 1, very close to you. We arrive March 27 and leave April 3... I'm wondering if we will be there at the same time?! We have Karla for our coordinator as well. I actually have to start emailing her again to work out all our details. Keep up posted on how things are going!

I believe so but I've never heard our WC's name mentioned. We're staying at the Coba but marrying at the Akumal beach location. We picked this beautiful spot!

For those of you with the iPod questions. I came straight out and asked our WC when she told us about the $190US DJ fee

Quote:
Regarding the iPod music, we need to pay $190US to have someone push play on our pre-loaded ipod? We've been reading online that you have speakers available so we can just plug it in at a cost of around $20, we would like this option
... and this is what she said.

Hiring a DJ is better than being worried about changing songs or putting music on the cocktail, but I can put some speakers for free and you can put your own music, i just always recommend you to have the DJ. Let me know!
So those of you that are getting the run around, this is direct from my WC so see what you can do!

HereFishie..thanks for that.

Jazmin on the Tulum side has gotten back to me. She says Tulum does not have speakers for rent and that the other sections may have them, but they do not share that equipment btw themhuh.gif So maybe Tulum should buy their own would be my thought if Akumal and Coba both have this option. She did say she had looked into a company in Cancun who would rent them to us for $3880 pesos and that she would negotiate this and make the necessary arrangments. So we are considering this option too, but I am concerned then about us getting these speakers and no one knowing how to hook them up and make them work!

That is the question out there now...will they deliver the speakers, set them up, and make sure someone in the group knows how to make them work. If so, then maybe this is what we will end up doing.

Hi Ladies,

I have fought this speaker issue like you would not believe... I have finally got Jazmin to agree to allow me to bring my ipod and my own speakers. I have to contract stating the resort will not be liable if there is a power surge and it blows up my equipment. I have speakers I use with my ipod around the pool here at my house and they are great. I paid about $60 dollars for them at the surplus electronics store. they retail about $150 the great thing is they are the size of tea cups and powerful. So that is how I have beat the DJ issue. Good Luck lovely ladies.

I'll get batteries for my camera a take a picture of my speakers and Ipod. The speakers just plug into the Ipod and they have the electical cord for the wall... they also take batteries. They brand is JVC for mp3 players, and they ar loud... I have had them going in my backyard for a party of 50 people and they did the job. As per my neighbour five doors away they could hear our music...

You won't need one darlin'. Don't let that stress you out. I was able to use my straightener and blow dryer with their outlets. I think the voltage is a little higher then here in Canada but the socket is the same.

Can anyone who has been there tell me how far it is from the Akumal Beach location (Dolce Vita specifically) to the Coba pools? Also how far from the Coba pools to the Hacienda (disco)??

We're trying to figure out how far everything is away from each other between these 2 resorts and the map isn't great for distances so we're worried about getting up to 40 people where they need to be in time!

Also, for those brides that mailed some of their items ahead of time to the resort... where did you mail it to?? I'm thinking of this because of baggage restrictions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
