Thank you ladies!! It was a rainy day for us but it cleared up just in time for Karla to move everything to the gazebo and it all turned out perfect. We had just enough time to get wed and do pictures. Someone was looking down on us that day.

I'll let you know what i find out!
Yes, please keep us posted on what you find out... I'm wondering the same things. What's up with not being able to get into the Hacienda until midnight? Is that every day or just certain days? It just won't be a wedding for me without dancing!

We cannot get into the hacienda to dance until after midnight and we want something after dinner. It is $8 for the two hours (I get the set up fees) but do we have to pay for the drinks too.....that is not clear to me.
Also, did anyone who did this bring their own ipod and just rent speakers? I don't think we need a DJ necessarily and not to be cheap, but I don't really want to pay a DJ to just stand there if we bring all our own music......
We had planned to have a cocktail reception out by the jacuzzis but we ended up inside at the Music Bar near the Coba lobby. Since there were only 18 of us I did the ipod. The set up speakers and lights and the cake so that we could do the cutting then. They also put a bunch of balloons in out colours to decorate (that was my nieces favourite part).

IMO, a DJ isn't worth it if you have a smaller group. Lets face it, it's only the women that dance and we tend to wiggle our hips to anything, DJ or not.

Oh and the other great thing about being inside was the lack of mosquitos. They're sneaky in Mexico. So tiny but they surely leave their mark.

hi: We are having a cocktail reception by the pool after our dinner at the Tequila Restaurant. I am hoping to have the DJ. We are expecting about 40 people so need some good music to keep them dancing. If anyone has had the cocktail reception by the pool.........would you please let me know how it went. We are wondering about the cost of the bar........was given cost per person and given the fact that there are a few children and older people who don't drink much..do we get charged full price for them?

Any insight would be great!

Congrats Mrs. Hansen!!! Can't wait to hear all about your wedding and see pictures!

We had the cocktail reception by the pool and we did the bar package with margarittas, beer and pina coloads as that was what most of our guests were drinking. That was $5 per person I believe they did charge us $3 for the kids as we had several, they did not compromise on the price for adults as they had to pay a staff to be at the bar so I understood that. Our guests who wanted something else tipped the bartenders and then they were able to get whatever they wanted.

I did use DJ Bob and I thought he was awesome for anyone looking for a DJ.

How can they charge you for drinks at an ALL INCLUSIVE resort? I don't understand this at all....

HereFishie.....I see your point, but IMO they are charging more for the staff, set-up and clean-up than anything.

We are planning on going to the Hacienda because there will only be about 15 of us......but now I'm wondering if this is possible. Someone mentioned that you can do this only after midnight?? Oh well, I'm sure we will find somewhere to get our groove on!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
