To those of you who have gotten married already, did you get a copy of the ceremony before the wedding? And if so, were you able to change things? Add things in? (ie. readings, sand ceremony, etc...)

Yes you are able to change it and add to it. We pretty much wrote most of ours, well found ideas online and then sent it to the WC, we added the sand and hand ceremony and we each wrote something for each other and then did the traditional vows.

In recent emails with Jazmin, i've received an updated copy of wedding ceremonies available. We were under the impression that for the civil wedding ceremony, there was only one type available (sunshine). There is also a Mayan Blessing ceremony (no legal basis but sounds muy cool). Does anyone have any comments on these?

I found a review on the Mayan Blessing.

I thought about doing this one but then decided that I the civil wedding is more us. We're not very spiritual people so we decided against it. Judging my the reveiw though it seems pretty rad.

I just received an e-mail from Karla to confirm our wedding timeline. Since we have a smaller group we can't do a private reception so this is what we've come up with.

3-330 Wedding ceremony

330-430 Pictures (guests can go freshen up if they like after group shots)

430-530 Cocktail hour with Mexican trio

6 Dinner at Portifino

I was thinking that after dinner we could go to the fiesta night at the Hacienda. Does anyone know what time that starts at?

I do not know what time the fiesta night starts but you do know that you can have a pool side dancing reception if you wanted after dinner, that is what we did. After dinner we had a dj and danced and had a blast until 10:30.

Hey KLee, thanks for the info on the Mayan ceremony!

As for having too small a group to do a reception, what are your numbers? What kind of reception were you thinking about? We are anticipating around 20 - 25, and looked into the poolside reception that jkcz0702 was talking about. It sounds intimate and fun, and a good way to extend the celebrations further into the night.

How many people did you have come to your wedding. I thought that we had to have a min of 50 people to have the poolside reception. Does that min only apply to the dinner portion?

We're only going to have at most 20 people. I tried booking a private dinner but with the min of 50 people it would be waste of money for us to pay the minimum. It's a bit of a bummer but I'm sure it will all work out.

We had 32 people at our wedding and we did our dinner in the Italian and then went poolside with a dj for dancing. I think the 50 people are only for the dinner but I did not really look into it because DH did not want a buffet dinner.

I agree with the other girls...I think the 50 people minimum only applies to having a poolside dinner...and you can have as many / as little as you would like for a poolside reception.

We didn't look at the dinner because we didn't want to pay a ton of extra money because we're there for the "all inclusive" deal anyways. We are having our dinner at Le Gourmet (fantastic food) and have just received confirmation that we can have a poolside reception after dinner...

BUT...the pictures they sent me were for a poolside reception beside the jacuzzi tubs. I remember the area that this jacuzzi was in...and I don't remember it being very large...and I don't think there is really a place to dance. I have asked Karla if we could move this reception over to the (quiet) pool instead and I'm just waiting for a reply.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
