Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Eak! I just got the same message from the WC. Looks like we're having dinner in a resturant. :-( I can't really read all the information on my wee blackberry so when I get home I'm going to do some more reading. It doesn't look good. I guess I will just have to do a cocktail hour before our dinner reservation.

Are you close to 50 people? Some people have mentioned that they pay for 50 people even if they don't have that many. If you were only 5 people away from 50...maybe you could pay for those 5 extra if a private dinner was important to you?

Oh that would be sooo nice. Only thing I would be worried about is planning a private reception and then finding out a couple weeks before or at the resort that we've been bumped by a bigger wedding group.

I'm going to talk to my TA and see if I can get some advise as to what I should do. I'm sure I'll figure something out that will be just as good.

Though I have mentioned it everywhere possible that we want a private reception I haven't received any confirmation that it has been booked. The only thing confirmed at the moment is the Mexican guitar trio that we're going to have play a little bit before dinner and durning some of the dinner (where ever that may be).

When I get more info, pictures, etc., I will surely post them here for you and other anxious brides. :-)
Thanks for the info!! Much appreciated :)

Jazmin on the Tulum side has been pretty good about getting back quickly after emails.

Does anyone know about the "new" setup Tulum has for the beach location? Pictures i've gotten from the travel agent show an arch, but the setup from the wedding coordinator shows 2 palapas. Does anyone know if you can get an arch also? It seems as though it would be hard to decorate the palapas much, if at all.

Also, maybe Tlseege or Joanna can answer this, but for the poolside reception, did you contact Jazmin for all your questions, or did she send out options / prices? (i know this has probably been answered before, but it's such an epic thread, i don't want to go back through it all again).

We put all the cds we wanted for the ceremony on a cd in the order that we wanted them to be played and some one from the resort changed the songs at the correct times, must have been an assistant.

Right around 3 months before was when we could choose the layout for our wedding, cocktail hour, private reception etc. We had 32 guests and our WC gave us the option of a sit down dinner not sure if she would have charged us for the 50 bc once we heard it was a buffet we changed our minds.

I did get my hair done at the salon and I think they did a great job I did have them do a trial so the day of the wedding she knew what I wanted.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
