2) We are leaving in three weeks. I read because of low tourist numbers that the Tulum side has been closed. Has anyone heard about this?? I am going to call the resort and make sure this will not be the case for the wedding. I hope not!
Hi JoLo! Your big day is coming up too! We leave this sunday and get married on Wednesday next week! so excited. To answer your question, our wedding coordinator is Yuritzia from the Akumal side and I had the same question and she replied today that only the Akumal section is open as well as the Dona Isabel (Hacienda) area sooo..... not as many restaurants but because the resort is only 20% capacity the service is really really good, not as much of a party atmosphere, no fighting over palapas etc. maybe this will change by the time you have to go? Let me know if you have more questions

I guess I am going to have to call the resort and find out...Thanks for the info Corvette79... I am hoping it will be open again. Jazmin told me she wouldn't be there from May18-June 8, maybe it's because Tulum would not be open. I need to find out if it will be open or not... I hope there aren't any other weddings that day!!!

Anyone know about the debit card??

How exciting your wedding is almost here!!! Wow that is crazy only certain sections are open. Hope eveyone's wedding goes well. I would think if your debit card has the visa/mastercard logo you would be able to use it. If not there are ATM machines if you needed some cash.

I'm pretty positive that I paid with my debit card because my credit card limit isn't high enough... so I'm almost 10000% sure. My debit card is mastercard backed, so I think as long as you have that they won't even know the difference.

Hi Tlseege...can you please give me a bit more information on the resort DJ? When I start making plans with my WC at Coba, I want to make sure it's the same DJ and will provide me with the same services that you had (based on your rave reviews)...so any information (name, cost, music, etc...) that you have would be greatly appreicated!! Thanks!!

Thanks ladies! That's what I thought. I totally don't want to rack up the credit card it I don't have to.

Now, important info. I called GBP from my parents house a few times today (sorry mom and dad) and found out the Tulum section will be opening June 15th.... THANK GOD!!! We already planned for everything over there, and that is where we did our site visit. We need to rally to get more tourism back to Mexico, because these poor people are suffering! Thanks for all the info ladies!!

Oh crap! I'm sorry emme! I really can't provide very much detail. I have NO idea what his name was. All I know is he was the normal DJ that played at the activity pool for Akumal. It was $150 cash per hour (paid ahead of time). He played a mixture of my music which I brought on CD and his own music. He danced with our group, which was so much fun. He's REALLY good at Michael Jackson dances!! Super hilarious! (which were on MY play list... so it's not like he played it just so he could dance). Ummm... I don't think I really have much else. I could probably find a photo of him?!?

It's all good Tlseege :)

I am just trying to decide if I should go with someone from the resort or another vendor. I'm just thinking that maybe the DJ that you had last year may not be an employee anymore. If I could be "guaranteed" the same DJ then I would have so much more confidence in him based on your reviews. Thanks for everything...you've been a TON of help throughout this thread!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
