Hi Abbie,

Thank you for such a fabulous review!!!!!

But I am confused on the exchange rate... Is that 1 us $ is 12 pesos and 1 ca $ is 18 pesos?? Is the Canadian $ worth more there? I was going to bring US dollars but am I better off just bringing Canadian money? Last time I was in Mexico the Canadian $ was under valued so I had exchanged to US first. Any advicehuh.gif?

Thanks a bunch!!

Thanks for replying. We too have Karla, so I am happy to hear when the time comes to talk with her that things should go quickly. We were also wanting to have a private reception by the pool, and based on what I've read here DJ Bob is the man. Who do you have DJing? How about photographers? Again, based from what I've read the Claudia Rodriguez group is great, I've looked at Citalli's work and it looks great. I'm hoping to get a reply from them and book her.
Even though as you said it could change, we have been given a 4 pm ceremony time, which works great for me, because we hope to do exactly what you are doing with dinner and reception.
Keep up that excitement! I'm excited for you just thinking that I'll be doing the same thing next year!
Bye!
Julie
Hi Julie,

We just hired the resort DJ. Heard good things about him and the price was right :) For a photographer we went with Mexican wedding photos (Mexican Wedding Photos & Videos | Wedding photographers). I really liked their work online, they were quick to respond to all my questions, and they had a great price for videography. We both have grandmas who are unable to attend and really wanted to be able to send them a DVD of our wedding.

Excitement is building!!!!!!

Heidi

yes, $1 US is equal to 12.80 pesos (subject to change at any time, and of course also subject to where you exchange $! it varies.)

also that would be 1$ CA is equal to 18.00 pesos!! wowza, yes its true, since the ca $ is actually worth more than the us $ right now it would follow suit that it would be worth even MORE in mx pesos :) yay for my neighbors up north! :)

~as far as bringing US vs. CA $ i honestly dont think you will be able to buy anything with CA cash. all the shops and places where you pay for things accept US or pesos, not CA.

~as far as exchanging your $ when you get there at a bank, or using a hotel cashier, i assume you will get more if you trade CA$ over US$ (because CA$ ir worth more), does that make sense?

hope that helps.

ok girls, sorry this is such horrible footage and i have no info to go along with it other that in person it was obviously a wedding reception, at the main pool area at Tulum, and there was a DJ and lots of crazy dancing! i actually got all teary as i watched! i was so jealous that we didnt do our wedding this way.

anyways, we obviously werent going to intrude, but i shot this video standing on the bridge that crosses the pool by the swim-up bar.

Tulum Pool Wedding Reception

again sorry for the poor quality, it was dark and far away so i was on zoom. but i figured you Tulum girls might appreciate it :) it was a wedding reception our first night, so it would have been April 11, 2009.

Hi Abbie,

I am obviously a little slow today LOL ok so if i understand this correctly.... it is better to bring sown Canadian dollars and exchange in pesos for say tipping or shopping and spending at restaurants etc than it is in UShuh.gif also is that rate just at the hotel? so sorry thanks for the clarification. we have been buying a bunch of USD since it has come down to 1.23 but now I am wondering if I should hold off on the rest?

We've been told the DJ must be cash, the trio cash/ travellors checks, and the photographer cash or travellors checks. Everything else from the hotel goes on the room and can be paid by credit card.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
