Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I know its been awhile since I have been on the site. I leave in a week for our wedding and I am trying to make up the ceremony programs. We have choosen to use the Mexicain romantic music for the ceremony only problem is Yuritza won't email me back with the names of the songs and artists. She has only given me info about one song and that is for the recetional. I was just wondering how you other girls designed your programs when really we don't now what happens or in what order things go till we get down there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just returned from GBP Coba a little over a week ago. We chose to have a Mayan Blessing ceremony instead of the traditional wedding which we had here at home a week before we left. Not many of our family or friends wanted to attend our desired destination wedding so we did both.

Over the next few days I hope to post a review. We had absolutely no problems with booking our ceremony or with our WC who was Karla. She always answered my questions within a day or two. Everything was wonderful.

Our stay at the resort was so good I'm actually going through withdrawal. As soon as I have a chance I'll write a quick review. Happy planning to those of you counting down the days.

That's so awesome it went well!!!!! I'm super excited to here how the Mayan Blessing ceremony went becuase that's what we are leaning towards for our ceremony! Did you get to choose what was said at allhuh.gif?? I just had no idea. I've really liked everything I've read about the Mayan ceremony.

We originally wanted to do it poolside but our WC suggested last minute we do it in the restaurant and I am glad that we did this way the entire time by the pool was just dancing.

Our dinner was at the pool, so we did it there. But I can see advantages both ways.

The restaurant would be nice because then the reception is just for the party. But if you cut it at the reception then people can nibble throughout the dance and also grab a piece on the way back to their room (that's what they did at mine).

I've decided to cut the cake at our pool reception. A few people said after eating dinner for two hours there was no room for the cake. So I figured we'd have it at the reception so people can enjoy it later.

How about posting a full review in the reviews section, and then posting a link here for us? :)

Tranch, I had the same question about programs -- how do we get these printed if we don't even know what time the ceremony is going to be, or what exactly is going to happen. Ladies who already got married, did you bother doing programs and menus?

Also, was wondering if everyone got mini fridges in their rooms, or is that just a Golden Club thing? Also, what drinks are included with the all-inclusive... like, are margaritas included? Oh, here I go with the questions again... ok, last one for now... What are your restaurant choices if you're getting married on the Akumal side, and which do y'all recommend?

Hi Everyone!

So after an entire weekend of looking through this site, I finally got enough information that convinced me to actually do a destination wedding. I was on the fence, my fiance really wanted it. And I have since been in contact with Paloma at the Gran Bahia and it looks like there is availability for when we were planning to go away. I just wanted to thank everyone for providing so much information on here to help the newcomers out! Now that things are progressing I'm sure I'll have tons of specific things to post about and I'm thankful that there will be people here to help answer my questions!!

Thanks again!

Julie (Potential wedding date March 31, 2010 - Coba section)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
