Wow, I really can't get over how helpful this website is!! I love it.. Thank you so much!!

I thought I was set on a beach wedding, but after seeing all the pictures, and reading about it. I think i'm going with the gazebo.. So pretty!!

I think I'm going with Tulum.. But I'm not getting married until 2010, so I'm pretty sure I will change my mind again..

Thank you for all the info!!

We stayed at Coba. We chose the beach location that is right next to the gazebo. It is the same as the ones pictured above. There are 2 beach locations that I am aware of. One is the one to the right of the gazebo (and you can see the palapas (the thached roof things) in the picture of the gazebo) and the other is down on the beach in front of Akumal. Both are pretty but the location near the gazebo is much more private. Availability depends on whether the gazebo is being used that day and at what time. It didn't seem like it mattered which resort you are staying at when choosing wedding sites. The WC has a big binder and you choose site, flowers and cake/music options when you get to the resort.

Thanks so much for the info. Our main choices for hotels were between Coba and Tulum. And I haven't been able to get a ton of info on Coba, probably because it is the newer hotel, and it seems like most people have picked Tulum or Akumal for their weddings. I liked the idea too of everyone being able to have a junior suites. And if the new restaurant thing is in effect, my TA says yes (only being able to eat at the restaurants at your hotel), then the Coba has a larger selection of restaurants than the other hotels.
I would love to see your pictures of the beach location for Coba, if possible.
If you want to post it on here that cool, or if you want to email it to me that would be awesome too.
Thanks again!
Hi Turtlewax,

If you private message me your email, I will gladly email you those photos. I don't think I'm talented enough to figure out how to post them :)

The great thing about this resort is that guests can use all 3 facilities. But we were also told about the new rules going into effect, which helped lead to our decision to pick Coba.

From what I've gathered from TripAdvisor, and this forum, is the Coba has the biggest buffet, so if we were to only be allowed one buffet choice, I wanted to give our guests the best selection. I believe the Coba, also has airconditioned ala carte restaurants which was important to us, as we have a May wedding and expect it to be hot. I've read reviews on TripAdisvor about some restaurants being too hot to bare. The only draw back is not being right on the beach, but I'm hoping guests won't mind the short walk.

We weren't able to select our wedding location (maybe because we are the 5pm wedding- last one of the day I believe), but I was very happy with what she sent us. Originally, I liked the thought of the Gazebo, but I figure if I am coming all the way to Mexico I might as well get married in the sand!! :)

So far things are running smoothly with planning, we have already picked our restaurant for dinner, and set up plans for after dinner. Can't wait!!! Just over 4 months to go...

I just got a confirmation from Jazmin that isn't really a confirmation! All along, I've been told by Paloma and Jazmin that I HAVE to have my ceremony at 2pm. No other options. I've requested the beach from the beginning and have been told thats fine. Now Jazmin says that they can't confirm availability till you get there. ?!?!? Anyone know which availability? Location or time? I'm working on my welcome brochure right now and had planned on putting both location and time in there. Aargh!

A question for those who have been there. I understand that there is internet access that is quite expensive in the hacienda. Does anyone know anything about wireless in the rooms? (As I typed that I realize that its a longshot!!) There are computers in the diamond club, or whatever the premium area is called, right? My sister is freaking out because she's teaching an online course and needs to be able to access her email daily. Anyone know anything?? Do we get upgraded because we're getting married there? I'm wondering if I can pass on my internet privileges to her if we do get access to the club section...

You and your FI will be upgraded. The computers at Coba were in the premier lobby. If you don't have the gold bracelet, they charge you to use the computers. Depending on how many people are using the computers, they do enforce the rule. We did give out the password to friends and some were able to sneak on. There is also wireless in the Coba premier lobby that we only found out because someone tried. Apparently the computers are all connected using an unsecured wireless network. There is no computer access in the rooms. We never bothered looking into the computers at the hacienda.

We were told that the availablity isn't "written in stone" because it all boils down to whether the minister/JP can make it on that day at that time. I wouldn't stress too much about it though as I haven't heard of anyone's wedding actually getting changed.

You and your FI will be upgraded depending on availablity. (If the resort has rented out all upgraded rooms to guests who have paid for those rooms, you won't be upgraded).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
