Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering what everyone did for hair and make-up on their wedding day? So far all the reviews I've heard about the spa haven't been that great. I have 5 BM's so for the 6 of us, hair and makeup will be $826 (cdn) plus tip. I don't mind spending the money...I just don't want to spent it and then have all the girls go back to their rooms and redo their hair/makeup themselves.

We got our hair and makeup done at the salon... I loved every single one of our hair styles. Three of us also got the makeup and I thought it was amazing. I did however NOT use their eye mascara or liner. That's nasty.

Yay! I've finally got my date figured out - June 10, 2009 at Tulum and Jazmin is my WC. I've been working all day to figure out church arrangements - I think we may be going with the Catholic Church in Xcaret. We are bringing our own priest down so although the religious ceremony is not recognized in Mexico, it will be recognized back in Vancouver. Plus we skip out on having to do all the legal papers, blood test, etc during the first half of our trip. At least this is the plan at the moment...

For photography, I am also now looking at Cancun Photography. Has anybody else used them? Any one ever use O'Driscoll photography? He is giving me a great package deal with engagement photos, full day stuff and TTD session, but his gallery online is not as impressive as some of the other sites.

Joanna that is a great deal if she is willing to do it! Although the Spa was great... they are a little stressful since they don't speak ENGLISH! Ugh... I go to a Spanish speaking country and I expect English :) Silly.

Mayan Butterfly, congratulations on setting and confirming a date! Yippee!

I have no knowledge of those photographers... but if their website isn't too great, maybe you could e-mail them and ask if they'll send you pictures from a complete wedding. I think that could help put you at ease.

Congrats on setting a date!

I also do not have any knowledge of O'Driscoll photography I agree asked to see pictures of a full wedding, so you can see the prep, wedding and after this way you can see the true style of the photographer.

I also plan to use the salon but am bringing lots of picts!!

I got my hair done at the salon, as did most of my family. Just be aware there is no Barbacide and they use the same tools on everyone. My hair was Ok, but I'm not sure if it was worth it. They use the straightening iron to curl your hair and I have fine hair and they burnt my hair, about 4 inches on the ends of my hair had to be cut off when I got home. I don't want to freak you out but just thought I'd put this out there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
