Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

i heard about this new policy too regarding the buffets and restaurants. i believe it goes into effect nov 1st.

i've received mixed messages about it. the resort told us that we could not eat at the other gourmet restaurants (we're staying at tulum) but we could eat at the other buffets. whereas air canada seems to be saying that all of the other restaurants including buffets are off limits.

so we're pretty confused but not overly worried about it b/c i'm sure there will be plenty of food on our side. but if anyone happens to know the real policy, i would love to hear about it. thanks!

I just heard back from my TA who just talked to the resort and restaurants and I also asked if additional meals could be bought and here is what she said:

You are allowed to use all the restaurants at the three properties, regardless of which one you are staying at.

For those staying in the standard or junior suites – 3 a la carte restaurants are permitted.

They do not allow you to “buy” additional dinners. Once you’ve used up your three dinners, that’s it.

Just to clarify - the information I found says you can eat at any of the a la cartes on the whole resort but you can only eat at the buffets and gourmets on your side.

This might not apply to wedding groups though, as you get a different colored bracelet than other people. Like I said, Joel & I got gold bracelets, the rest of our group got silver ones. I saw other people on the resort wearing pink, orange, green, etc. bracelets.

The resorts do not advertise this, but Brides and Grooms are given Gold bracelets, my family all were "Gold class" but got yellow bracelets. As it was explained to us, actual gold bracelets are VIP. They do not keep track of your a la cartes. My husband and I ate at a restaurant every night (after we figured this out). Book your a la cartes ASAP!! They book up so quick. Our favs were Mikado (Japanese) and Don Pablo (amazing gourmet).

Yes I am a pack rat and still have the catalogue. I chose one with white lilies and red roses (matched my dress), but it had daisies in it and I got them switched out for tiny white irises. It looked great. What's your email? I'll send you the catalogues, not that Yuritzia will pay attention until you get there, but I understand, it is SUPER hard not to do anything. I think having a no-stress wedding is sometimes more stressful

Yay! I'm so excited to see people that are getting married at the same place and are struggling with the same things. Thanks for all this info! I have a couple questions still:

Is anyone have a welcome party? Do you have any clue how I could arrange that? WE have people coming from across Canada and even arrive on different days. I want to set up a way to say hello once they come and hand out welcome packages. Even just a location by one of the bars where everyone

I wanted to make wedding invitations but I still don't know very much information about where and when. Has anyone else thought about how to do this? I have also emailed Yuritzia these same questions with little luck about what is really going on!

And as for flowers, could you email me the catalouge too Steph? aleavitt@cjay92.com.

Thanks again!!

Steph that would be great if you could send them to me my email is jkcz0702@gmail.com.

Oh that is good to know they give us higher grade bracelets.

We are not doing a welcome party as we have guest coming in on different days. So we were going to a bar for each night at x time. Once we get closer I guess we will figure out which bar. We are going to do a RD but just have it at one of the buffets or if we do not do the outside dinner then we will take our guests on a sunset cruise.

We did not make our invites either but I was told by the resort I would probably not hear from the WC until 2 months before the wedding so we will have to leave that details out, which stinks but oh well.

I agree the stress free is stressing me out :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
