Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Thanks for the disco pictures! Were you happy with renting out the disco or was it a waste? With the new prices I got it looks like they increased the rate to $250 per hour. Do you think it's worth it? Also, do you know if it's possible to have a dance recpetion outside by the pool w/drinks only (no dinner)? And if so, does anyone know how much it is?

We were very happy with the disco, everyone had a great time and it was totally worth it. I think $250/hr is still very much worth it (it's only $200 more).

It is possible to have the poolside dance. When I was quoted it was $150/hr for the DJ, $5/per person for the first hour and $3/per person for any additional hours. So for two hours it would be $300 for the DJ and $8/per person. For three hours it would be $450 for the DJ and $11/per person.

Here is the most updated information for the civil wedding package. It looks like some of the prices have changed. Does anyone have updated pricing for poolside reception? I can't get anyone to respond to my e-mails. Also, has anyone used the mexican trio or other music options? Did you have the trio play after your ceremony or during? Do you think it's cheesy to get the trio, is it better to just go with CDs? Thanks!

We had our wedding January 9 and it was still quite warm at night (some might like a light jacket - but we were fine walking around at night without one).

ETA: THe prices for the poolside reception are on Page 43 of this thread.

If you decide to have a coctail hour driectly after the ceremony (while we are busy with pictures)...where do they have it....do you guys think its worth the extra money or should I scrap that idea and just let the guests do what the want until dinner at 530huh.gif?

Hi JennyFTB, in New Jersey at many of the weddings here, they have an hour to two hour period after the ceremony and before the cocktail hour/reception, where people usually relax and go to a bar to grab a drink and do things like that. I think for a destination wedding especially at the Gran Bahia ( since it is all inclusive and they can do that) it would not be rude or wrong to do. I think a lot of times people appreciate that "down time" before the cocktail hour/reception (at least I know we all do here at home.) Do whatever feels right and fits your budget!

***Ladies, I just wanted to let everyone know I just received an email from Jazmin with some pictures of outdoor dinners/receptions, along with the prices which I know are already posted on here, but the pictures might help if anyone wants to see! Thanks again everyone for all of the information!!***

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
