obviously I'm more towards AKumal. I LOVED Akumal. It's slightly newer than Tulum and I LOVED my wedding site. It was perfect!!

Yuritzia is terrible with e-mail communications, but once you get there she delivers 110%

It is true. The beach is pretty rocky. It didn't stop our guests from playing it in though.

One really nice thing about the beach being rocky is that the wedding location on the Akumal side is NOT swimmable. Which means you don't end up with bikinis and speedos in your wedding photos!!

The disco is pretty much the same distance from all of the resorts. They all require a tram ride and it's about 10-15 minutes total.

One last question before I leave. I know the poolside reception is $17 for the first hour per person for the bar, right? What about the second hour? Is it still $17 or a smaller amount?

I am going to bed in a little bit because I have to be up at 3am, I hope someone can help me! :)

Hi...I am new to this...I am looking to have my wedding in April and was trying to find more information on some of the packages they have at either Tulum or Akumal? also I was reading that you have to take a blood test whats with that? I am also looking for some pictures of both wedding locations at both these sections of the resort. Any help you can be would be greatly appreciated...

1kpaine - We used Citlalli of Claudia Rodriguez. It took a few days to get an intial response from them. Were you using the email function from their website? If not, here is the email address I have for Claudia: claudia@claudiaphoto.com

eeyor_78 - I think the blood test is required because you cannot get married in Mexico if you have AIDS (this is what I've heard). We went with the legal ceremony at home and just had a 'vow renewal' there so we didn't have to take the blood test. There are lots of girls on here that did have the blood test and they have said it is no big deal at all.

The wedding locations for Tulum are on Page 2 of this thread. This is what the Tulum beach location looked like for our wedding:

I'm pretty sure the packages and prices have changed since we went but here they are anyway:

Okay, I finally found some pictures of inside the disco. They are from this website.

The dance floor (they had white lights on the pillars when we used it)

The pictures don't do it any justice (our pictures of our first dance look A LOT nicer than these do - I'm sorry I can't post them, they are on a friends camera).

ETA: I think these pictures are from 2006 (I don't remember the blue on the ceiling).

I had the blood tests done and it's not a big deal at all. They actually used to require blood tests in the US too... but have since stopped. Basically, I was told you can't have STD's, AIDS, or be brother & sister! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
