Yes, we do. If we just danced to any song, then it wouldn't be special to us.

I was joking with Jay last night and told him we could just do it on the beach...they may be our last resort.
But, I really wanted to have a reception. I am hoping Jazmin can work with me on this since I told her a long time ago I wanted to damn disco.

Right across from the disco is a sports bar. (It's kind of in the open in the hacienda). We rented the disco, but on the same night another couple that got married and their guests were hanging out there. There's tables, all inclusive drinks, pool table, etc. I'm sure if you brought your iPod and docking station there, you could have a makeshift reception (for free!). I would just try to be there early so you can grab most of the tables...

They pipe music in at all the lobby bars, there has to be a way they can pipe in your first dance song... If you have an Ipod and docking station, i'd bring it. Otherwise bring the song on a CD and MAKE them play it! Is it a popular song? I know a lot of the musicians take requests. Perhaps you can have them do a live version of the song you guys want?

I guess maybe the disco is taken because of another wedding party. But, we requested this back in August or so when we made reservations! BOO!

It's not a very popular song, Sade "By Your Side." I don't know. I am so annoyed.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I am just so cranky because of this.

Hey Martha... I think having your first dance on the beach is a beautiful idea too... and your song is beautiful... Ipod+Ipod dock might be a great idea... I think I want to have it on the beach regardless...you have to have your first dance! Don't worry, it will happen!

Martha- Why don't you phone and speak to Paloma? See what she can do for you? I called and spoke to her a few weeks ago and she was really helpful once I had her on the phone. It took me about 7 tries through the day but I just kept trying and eventually I got to speak to her. That way you can sort of force her to come up with something (as opposed to email where she can sort of avoid some of your questions). I think its worth a try...

That's a good idea! I am going to wait and see if Jazmin can give me a deal abd only charge me for the people that will drink. My parents graciously offered to pay for the cocktail hour, even though they don't drink.

Okay girls!!! Question!

If you had your reception/cocktail hour by the pool, would you do anything different? Would you bring something to make it look prettier? Tea lights maybe? Table runners?

I have seen one or two pictures that Jazmin sent me a while back but you can't really get an idea about what it really looks like. The table look kinda small and I didn't see any chairs? Can you describe it better or show me some pictures, please?

Okay... I would NOT bring tealights! I did. I brough 20 pounds of tealights in my luggage. HUGE waste! They didn't stay lit at all because it was so windy, so it was just stupid of me!

I did bring/make my own table runners though. I really thought it broke up the white table beautifully.

I'd also recommend maybe a small flower arrangement on the tables? I would ask them if they could take one rose for each table from your free arangements for your wedding location and place them in a square glass container on the tables. Know what I mean? I think that would add a nice punch of color.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
