@@sarakelz what was the cost for the reception with bar after dinner? Just curious because I'm planning a wedding for January 2015 and GBP tulum is one of my top 3 choices and I have about 30 people coming

This is what we were quoted for 2014 prices

National Bar

Beer, Rum, Vodka, Tequila, Cocktails, Gin, Whiskey                         $2680

Special Cocktails

Beer, Pina Coladas, Margaritas, Sparkling Wine                                $1400

This option  is for 50 persons maximum , in case there´s more people will have an extra charge.

This packages includes 3 hours of open bar, set up, soft lighting, cocktail tables, white tiffany chairs microphone and music DJ

Hope that helps!

We had the special cocktails menu with no DJ. (tho there is a GBP staff who manages the volume of the music and makes sure everything goes smooth in that dept)

we paid $5/person/hour. Our reception was from 8pm-11pm

So for 39 people it cost just under $650.

Even though we were only supposed to get the basics, they served us everything! No extra charge.

The area was set up beautifully and was much more than I expected.

The prices might change for 2014/2015 but it can't go up much more.

Hope this helps!

Hey there,

This thread has been so helpful. So, I am getting married on the Akumal beach on April 1st, 2014... 2 weeks ahhhhh! I am pretty set but I am wondering about a few details

1. How to bring my music down for my ceremony. CD,iPod, mp3 player. Advise?

2. How long is it to walk down that beach? It looks like it's 20 miles long.

3. Having Dinner at the Porto Fino and I know my parents are gonna wanna do a speech during dinner. Anybody else had speeches during dinner?

Thanks a million

1.We put our music on a cd. We also did a back up on our ipad as well in case there was a problem. When you meet with the WC she will confirm the order of the songs and when each song is to be played.

We had 2 songs while everyone was getting seated. 1 for the bridal party. 1 for the bride/father. 1 for the document signing. 1 at the end as we walked out and 2 more while we were doing pics/toasting.

2.The walk lasts approx 30 seconds--- trust me, it didn't feel long enough!

3.We had out dinner at the Portofino, we were going to do our speeches there originally but we were afraid we would interrupt other diners, but once we got there- we were pretty much the only people in the restaurant for the first hour of dinner, so we could have done our speeches there.

The person who manages the music while you're walking down the aisle will fade out the music appropriately, so you do not have to worry about length of the song.  Just pick out something you love :)

@@sarakelz That's an awesome price for the reception... All they keep giving me is the price quote MrsMoorsy posted. I'll have to enquire about cost specifically asking with no DJ... I have all of our songs downloaded already. You have been so helpful... Anything else you think us other brides should know, or anything that we definately should bring?

They are black at the resort, but I think so.

Here is also some valuable information from a person on another site:

You need a 2 pin adapter if you are coming from the uk. I take a power strip with a 2 pin adapter that plugs into the mains and then has 3 uk style plug sockets so I can charge camera battery , phone and ipad all at the same time . HOWEVER 2 things to be aware of -
1) make sure the socket part that is plugged into the wall is in properly they have a tendency to slip out a bit so that even though they look like they are plugged in they are not making a connection as they have slipped out slightly and therefore are not charging.
2) as the power level is different from the uk ( I think it is 110 or 120 volts as opposed to our 240v ) it will take much longer to achieve a full charge

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
