If you're staying at Tulum you'll have to get married there, but it's gorgeous! Same with the reception.

 

I had the BBQ outdoor dinner reception by the pool and it was amazing! Right next to the pool.

were would the bbq outdoor dinner take place,and is it a set menu or is it a variety of food,n do u no the prices per head for this?really wanted a bbq on the beach but its not looking like we could have that choice!at tulum is there only the gazebo? we really like the beach site at Akumal.dont no how to access the official thread

The BBQ is $46 per person, last I heard.  35 person minimum.  It's set up right next to the pool.  Here is a wedding I photographed that had a poolside dance, so just imagine that space with tables and chairs.  And the meal is a TON of different options.  http://faberphotography.com/weddings/gran-bahia-principe-tulum-gazebo-wedding/2012

 

A sand ceremony is very similar to the unity candle, however when you're outdoors it's very hard to light a candle.

So how was it incorporated?

After they pronounced us husband and wife (in Spanish), the coordinator who translated it to English said something along the lines of "the couple has chosen (insert name here) to read a sand ceremony" and then my aunt read the passage, they started playing my music, we poured the sand.  Then the coordinator introduced us as husband and wife and we walked down the aisle married

We are also doing a legal wedding. After the legal thing, I want to have my sister read a poem, and then have someone else read a different poem (wedding coordinator?)

Are you guys worried about entertaining your guests on resort during your time there? My fiance is worried because we have like 50 people going, and he wants to make sure we get alone time and arent overwhelmed with running into everyone on the resort.

well were definitely doing the bbq dinner and may as well have the national bar drinks n reception at the same time.

.what time did yours start if it was at the poolside? my only worry is i got married at 3pm n meal doesnt start till late its deciding on what to do inbetween this time.

My ceremony is at 3pm, having everyone meet for cocktails at 5, dinner at 6, then poolside reception at 8....
