Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I was nervous about bringing the cash down as well, but I ended up paying the resort all in cash in the end. With the credit card, alot of companies will charge the exchange rate + an extra % so it just didnt make sense to me. The hubby and I ended up paying the resort and all our vendors in cash in the end, and since we exchanged a larger sum, the bank gave us a slightly better rate. You would have to take cash no matter what as the resort asked us to place a cash deposit of about 630 USD during our meeting with the WC. So do bring some cash. We left all the cash in the safe the whole time, and paid everyone as soon as we could so we didnt have to keep the cash.

Thanks for your reply! :)

Eugenia hasn't mentioned anything about a cash deposit. Did she wait until you got there to tell you about it or did you know about the deposit before you left for Mexico?

I read on trip advisor that it's wise to email the hotel ahead of time to book a la cartes. I wanted to pass this info on to my guests, since we are going during March break and it will be extra busy. Does anyone know the email address where guests can do this? I saw it in trip advisor months ago and of course now I can't find it. Thanks for your help!

Yippee!  I will be photographing an amazing wedding at the Gran Bahia the first week in May.  So for any other brides who are getting married then, if you see me, say  hi!! :)

I'll be there then!!! Wedding May 10th!!

Thanks for the info and pic. :)

I tried to post this the other night but I'm having a lot of trouble navigating this new website! Did anyone get any prescription medication for before the trip, ie - dukoral (sp?) or twinrex? Normally I wouldn't even worry about it but since it's my wedding I want to take all precautions! lol

Does anyone know if the resort uses filtered water to wash produce and to make ice for the drinks?

I've took the twinrix but have never took dukoral and haven't had any problems. I know some ppl who have took it and been fine too, guess it depends on personal choice. Just stay away from the tap water like other said and you should be fine.

Which of the 3 resorts are you staying at? Cause there's a different email address for each one and they're listed in the "top questions" section. I have the email for Akumal if you're staying there...

Has anyone had the groom and groomsmen wear shorts? Wondering if this would be a problem with the dinner?

Dress code for men at the dinner restaurants are long pants or dress shorts and shirts with sleeves (long or short sleeves, no tank tops). The wedding dinner will count as one of the a la carte dinners of the all-inclusive package.

I'm staying at Akumal as well. Can you post the email address? Thanks so much!

Does the resort have anywhere where my dress and the bridesmaid dresses can be steamed if need be? I thought about buying a portable steamer to take down with me if not. What have past brides done?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
