I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, but now I wish I'd gotten a pile of different styles. The only thing is I'm very apple shaped so a lot of the dresses I liked didn't look good on me.

Yes i was going to buy a satin dress, but after reading on it I decided not to.... I was also going to pay more for silk but decided not to.... I want to find a dress I love but that is also lightweight so I wont be sweating too much? I am going to go with something like this now I think:

I went with a dress in organza... super light and breathable! All the Silk and Satin that I tried were either too heavy, I was afraid of water stains from the ocean or I felt would be too wrinkly. But that's personal opinion.  I tried on at least 60 dresses (If not more) and kept going back to one I had tried the first fitting, but you have to be sure!!

Sorry, that probably was a little confusing. It's the bathtub. They have jetted bathtubs.
Hi, I was hoping you could help me with a query. The all inclusive wrist bands that the resort ask everyone to wear, what did you do with yours, did you cut it off and get a new one? The Akumal wristbands are green so i don't want to wear it on the day

I got blood tests and they didnt bruise at all.  i am a very hard prick, but she got it right away and no need for makeup coverup.  And your photographer should be able to take care of anything that does show.

The wedding party is allowed to cut the bracelets off.  At the end of the night you just take it to the desk and get a new one, unless of course you're doing a trash the dress! Then you get one after taking your awesome photos the next day :)

Mine is top to bottom lace. LL LL I thought it would be cooler cause it's not all that heavy, but when I went in for my first fitting a couple of weeks ago I was already sweating in it! Oh well, I love it so it's worth it!! I think that you should pick a dress that you love no matter what the material is!! :)
Your dress choice is stunning! Are you having your hair up to show the back of the dress?

Hola! Just returned from my wedding in Akumal. It was perfect and everything does go as smoothly as they say it will. The disco IS open Thursdays, I checked. We had our wedding on Thursday and we were going to go there afterwards but we all jumped in the pool at the reception and didn't feel like changing afterwards. We just continued the party at the snack bar. We had our own vows and 3 readings totally without a problem. I personally would do the DJ all over again in a heartbeat. However, they play AWFUL music. I made my own playlist and just told him to stand there and play it, and guests could make requests. It worked out very well, my playlist had people dancing from the first beat to the last. However, the Resort DJ did great lighting and facilitated speeches with his microphone set-up. We had 53 people and it was literally impossible to do speeches during dinner - far too loud. And there's no mic set up in the restaurant.

Another thing is like to add is WEAR YOUR HAIR UP!!!!!! The brides that I saw (many) who had their hair down in some fashion all looked very different at the end of the night. I'd see them with beautiful curls at noon, and at the snack bar at the end of the night they looked raggedy. I wore a pin-up style from the resort hairdresser and it didn't move! Until I jumped in the pool, that is. But it lasted easily 10 hours just fine.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
