Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

We have about 30 people coming. I figure that's a good number so that we have a good amount of family and friends, but not so many that we'll be worrying about everyone the whole week. How about you guys? Since you have been to the resort before, can you tell me where the best spot is to sit and enjoy live music and have drinks after supper other than the hacienda? Is one lobby bar more lively than the others? Or would you just suggest to go to the hacien  da? Thanks, Liz :)
At the moment there's 16 of us going as it's quite a journey getting there but it'll be nice having the holiday with them all before the wedding! Coba and tulum have good music but we mostly kept to the main bar in Akumal, last time they did some greats shows and dances on stage then music afterwards, our children loved the entertainment before the shows so they were worn out before the music. The hacienda was nice also.

Alright gang, the OFFICIAL thread has been updated with the new photo pricing.  Just as a reminder, for full day wedding coverage (8 hours) it's $2800.  That gives you 160 photos (plus the free ones that are included in your package).  I would like to point out how crazy expensive that is.  To put it into perspective, I typically charge $2750 or less to fly to the GBP and take pictures.  It's all day coverage and includes between 600-1000 photos. [/quote How about video and live streaming info? Plz

Video information is also available on the official thread.  As for live streaming, a guest has done it for the bride's grandmother while I was there.  He did Facetime or Skype via his iPad.  But as for the resort doing it, I have never heard of rates for that.  Sorry!

I just emailed Paloma today, stating that it is unacceptable at this point to have no clue what is going on or have anything planned/booked and that we have our TA looking at other options for resorts. Hopefully we hear something back soon, and if/when we do  I will be sure to let you know!

Awe I wish we could change resorts!! Our TA is telling us because we put our deposits down on the resort already, we can't change resorts...The resort I know is amazing but this non communication is getting soooo ridiculous! I wanted to buy some decorations for the reception and I ended up not buying them because I haven't heard whether or not were allowed to bring them..it's just stupid. I am hoping dinner is only at most an hr cause I don't really want to sit around in a restaurant with random people for 2 hrs, basically just sit, eat and leave to our pool side reception where will do the cake cutting and speeches and then get our drink on! LOL

Honestly, you'll be thankful that you are bringing less stuff. At the end of the day, the location is gorgeous! How many people are you having? Honestly, it's very rare for a meal to take less than an hour and a half. There are a lot of courses and people are chatting and joking around so they eat slower.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
